FWHAYYY: Return of the Son of Dracula
Got back latelatelate last night.
Now I know that shacking up +hour away from the con maybe isn't the best plan of action, though it was great staying with some friends and their slutty cat, and I also learned a lot about how to present the merch and what to expect in general. SMALL TABLES ARE SO SMALL. But I was very surprised at how well the come-as-you-please setup worked -- I thought it was going to be complete chaos, but it was actually LESS stressful and more free than having assigned tables. And I cannot stress how important it is to DRINK LOTS OF WATER. I got so dehydrated and the bright lights gave me a killer headache; I felt much better when I started bringing in water bottles and snacks.
ebba and her obese cats were a HIT SENSATION, but we would have just sat in Artist's Alley all day then slunk away, maybe lurking a bit in the other rooms, if
hadn't taken us under her wing like a mammabird and her tiniest babies. We had a way better time and met x1000 awesome dudes that way. It helped A LOT and I know otherwise our adventure would have been much less fun and way more difficult.
I don't know many artists on FA, but it was so cool seeing some of the folks I really admire IN PERSON and then finding a bunch of new people who were totally AMAZING. Even better, I got to watch them do their thang live, and it got me so pumped to learn new skills. We actually tried to find a Michael's or something and stock up on art supplies right away, riding the thrill train. ;__; I wanna be cool like you guys. Everyone was so nice and talented! I need to make a wall of icons for all you badasses.
