Accepting Commissions:
- Accepting a commission means I have dedicated to meeting the client's needs to the best of my abilities.
- I take your character's design and narrative very seriously. I want you to love your character more after seeing it drawn in a way that surprises you. For this reason I reserve the right to say no to any offer if I feel like my life experiences do not allow me to handle your vision with honesty and personal pride.
- I reserve the right to refund your money appropriately if I am unable to start or continue a commission.
- If you are in queue for a commission I will send you a weekly message via comment or note to update you on my status, as well as you can expect work on your commission to start. I will make sure you will never be left in the dark.
----
General Pricing Notes:
- I prefer accepting payment in form of Paypal transactions, or—on rare occasions— miscellaneous art supplies (out of print books, or canvas rolls, for example).
- I do not start artwork on a commission until I know what to do. Once full payment is received, then I will start drawing.
- Your commissions cover my art expenses (art books, art publications, job fairs, contest entry fees, etc….) and goes towards furthering my career as an artist and a permanent art student, or perhaps the occasional groceries. :>
- Completed commission work is nonrefundable.
- Send description to wahay4u#gmail.com (replace # with @)
- State and city sales taxes are added, totaling around 6%
Flat Fees:
- Digitally painted dynamic single character, full body image with minimal background/compositional embellishment is 120USD; each additional character an additional 40USD.
EXAMPLE
- Digital pencil sketch with minimal value/colour for emphasis is 45USD; each additional character an additional 30USD, no backgrounds.

- Make it 3D! Stereo image + animated GIF available for an additional $35

Non-Flat Fee Pricing:
- I need to fully understand the expectations of a client before I can provide an estimate.
- Client's funds contribute to time spent drawing and researching for commission. I will read any chapter or text necessary to accomplish my goals, but that time costs money as well. Collecting and sending information I need to see will save you money.
----
Communication During Commission:
- I will update clients on a weekly basis (at the very least) to keep connection established until the commission is completed.
- I will update clients regularly with progress images* to ensure the image's direction is sound.
*I do not offer progress images for pencil sketches. The pricing/time ratio makes for a counterproductive exchange.
- The client will receive a low-res image of the final to confirm all details are in order.
- The client reserves the right to request minor changes for free.
- Labour-intensive changes requested outside of the original description of the client may be subject to additional charges.
----
After the Completion of a Commission:
- Client will receive completely unique but personal imagery, as well as my appreciation in full for trusting me with his/her/their characters, <3
- Client will receive high resolution PNG and low resolution/share-friendly JPEG images. Any image format available by request.
- High quality, archival Inkjet Prints on Epson Fine-Art Watercolor (classy and lightly textured) or Ultra Premium Luster (sleek and shiny) available at additional charge for paper, ink, and shipping costs.
----
Image Rights:
- Client reserves all rights to his/her characters.
- I reserve the right to sell prints of the commissioned image unless stated otherwise.
- I reserve the right to use the commissioned image for self-advertising, online or otherwise.
----
Privacy:
- I will not disclose the commissioner's name upon request.

Say Stigmata sold a piece for 40usd, I'm sure Stigmata spends at least 10 hours on a finished piece (although I'm sure it's probably longer), but even 10 hours is only 4 dollars an hour
Art isn't an unskilled profession, it's a craft that only some people can offer, and it's stuff that is completely unique. Getting a piece from Stigmata, there'd be no other piece like it in the world.
And then factor in the fact that Stigmata is an experienced artist, which means he can produce higher tier work.
There are countless artists on this site even,
And some of them even sell themselves short
I feel like Stig is selling themselve kind of short here, even.
If you and most people you know can't afford, sorry, but a skilled crafter should never sell himself short.
It's nice to know tho, that the more i work to get better, the more money i can make later on. Thanks for the motivational post^^,
And i was mostly meaning that if he wanted commissions if he's saving up for something, he should make himself more known first. This is the first time i see him offer commissions. First, one should sell cheap so people get to know you and the rumor of you spread faster. Then, you go up in price. A good way to get known is to offer cheap sketch commissions f.ex. He doesn't have to offer /real/ work for little money, but he should keep the option of people getting something easy for less money. That way, more people can afford it, and they will post it on their profile and link other people here.
The first big break is probably the hardest part of becoming "established", on this site anyways.
I started working on my art degree too! Good luck to us. What expertise? I'm going for Illustration.
I'm going for classical art. We learn to draw like Michelangelo did. And Leonardo DaVinchi. It's a private school. I started with the 2 year basic line. Then i will take more later. I will prolly end up spending many years at this place.
I can imagine doing work for next to nothing:/ I know i will have to do that too at one point. It's /not/ going to be fun:/ In Norway, minimum wage is around 15 bucks. Last time i worked, i made almost 23 bucks an hour. And that's /little/ in Norway. Most people with education have at least 30 to 40 bucks an hour.
I can't wait to see some stuff you belt out :D. Hope your education is going well!
Anyways, right now we're doing landscapes, from observation, and trying to light them to establish a good focal point.
And before that we were doing 2pt perspective, and drawing rooms, and buildings in it.
I've learned everything up to 3 point perspective. It's easy, so you'll get it fast if you haven't tried it yet.
Personally, the majority of my commissions have been over 40USD. I give people their money's worth with an exchange, so an easier way to stomach all this would be saving up for something that would equal three sketches from the more labour-intensive artists out there.
Aside from that, how are you doing, man? I haven't heard from you in ages!
We just need to spread the word some... Let me make a post to link people here from my journal. I may have less than 100 watchers, but at least /some/ of them will browse by. Never know if any of them have money or not:p
And i'm doing great! I started my art education 3 weeks ago. I'm going part time tho. But i've learned a lot already! I haven't learned much in the way of actual drawing. Just techniques on how to build up an object. You know, like, draw a square to get the depth right, learn to see positive and negative shapes, etc. I don't get to the /good/ stuff before around Christmas. That's when we're going to learn to draw objects:p
I'm also gonna sign up for a night class soon. Where i will learn to draw ... Well, i know the Norwegian word, but not the English one:p I'm gonna be drawing a person standing in front of me. Sketch him/her out and stuff. And after that course, i'm gonna take another one where we learn to draw quicker.
Oh, and i'm gonna be out of commission(:p) soon for a while. Gonna have an operation inside my stomach area:/ Some stuff has got to come out so i don't die:p Gonna be a cool scar tho... I'll be out for about a month. I can still be here tho as sitting down isn't very hard. Which also means i can still go to school. (Thank god!). I'll just be out during the operation itself, and about a week afterward while i heal up some. Gonna spend that time sketching stuff if i can. I dunno how much this will all hurt. I hope it's not to bad. Never had an operation inside my body before... But how bad can it be? It's not like a broken bone or anything:p
What about you? How's your edu going? I don't remember if you said you were finished or not.
I'm done with art classes, but I still have a year left. After college it looks like I may get a job in the game industry!
Thanks for the props. I really appreciate your support.
I was thinking of you in the shower yesterday! What are you up to now? xD
Should I be aroused or amused that you were thinking of me while in the shower? Making slow progress on my 3rd novel, and distracting myself with copious amounts of computer gaming. Immersing myself in someone else's universe in a strange sort of way is good for my imagination and enthusiasm for my own projects.
Next on my list? Dead Space!
