The Raphian
Well, where should I start? You could consider the Raphian as a prehistoric gryphon since they have features of the raptors, eagles and big cats. Their characteristic features are the 'butt'-, eye-, neck-feathers and tailtip-feathers. The latter is positioned on the sides like the hood of a cobra. They can be spreaded or folded so the feathers are leaning on the neck. Their 'butt'-feathers can be used like a control surface. They're also can be disposed Their tails are formed like a mix of a dragon's and cat's tail.
They walk on four paws, while the front paws are more looking like hand/eagle-paws and the hind paws are more looking like a mix of rat cat and raptor paws. Their build is pretty athletic. The head of a Raphian is formed like a raptor head with bits of a cat nuzzle. Overall they got 8 fangs and the typical raptor-teeth. Usually they're maned, but I think there could be some of them who got short fur. Their wings are a mix of featherd and dragon wings. They can be folded like dragon wings and they got two claws on them. One thumb and one finger on each side.
The Raphian has three forms, a anthro form, its large feral form (who can easily reach the size of a typicall dragon size) and a spectral form. Yes a spectral one, which it can switch into the "ghost world" where it prefers to eat souls, to charge up their energy for fire-breathing. As anthro it can also uses the spectral form but anthro typicall build. In their non-spectral form they can eat what ever they love to eat. Most of them are omnivore but there can be some carnivores or vegetarian too.
They love nature but also more and more are interesstet in technics.
Their style/kind is a mix of asian,egyptian,indian and latin... their look is exotic. The fur is more earth colored while the wings and feathers are vivid colored. Their spectral forms though can almost be every color. Their feathers got light dots and in the spectral form those dots are glowing. Also, in their spectral form, every Raphian has a down curved bill, like an eagle.
The Raphian are very much like parrots when it comes down to the relationship with a mate. They stay a couple for a life-time until one of them dies... but they also can life in little horde up to 10-20 Raphians. The Raphians are known for the fact that they never leave one of their kind alone so if a Raphian loses its mate a new horde willl definitaly welcome it to their group. A special feature that they got is a mating ritual they do while flying. They do that to proof if their mate is reliable and loyal.

The Raphian have a darkened corneas and an extraordinary wide-view and are capable to see different spectrums of "reality" which is possible through their 2 irides and special pupiles.
Their lungs are formed like that of a bird hence they have multiple airsacks so raphians are lighter than it seems.
Raphians have multiple wing-like rectrices that are placed on neck, beginning of tail and the tailtip. Every feather contains a nerve that is connected to a fine muscle that allows the raphian to move each feather individualy which makes them capable of performing unimaginable flight-manuveurs.
They belong to the avian-family and act similar like a bird or raptor in their feral-form although their sight might resemble that of an common mammal.
Raphians can rapidly move their heads when they have the feeling to be cautious, while in their spectral form movements are of a calm nature and thus look more smoothly
Through their extraordinary flexibility raphian are known as excellent climbers which can hold on to almost everything. It's not unusual to see them hanging from rocks,trees or other building.
Considering the types of movement, Raphian could be divided into 3 categories: the ones that rather fly than walk, the ones that rather walk than fly and those who use both equally.
Raphian are omnivorus . Their diet consists of flesh, fish, insects, fruits, nuts,plants and bark.
If the raphian have found a mate they usually hunt as a team. If the female takes care of the nest and their youth the male one will go for hunting.
It's not rare that a couple will join a group of other raphian. If they do so certain members will be chosen to become hunters. Those hunting-groups act strategicly and thus send a vanguard who will search for a potencial prey.
When a raphian reaches the age of 3-4 it'll leave its parents and joins a raphian group of the same sex (gender). The social behaviour benefits from it, young ones learn from older ones and moving in a group offers more protection against agressors.
In those groups of young raphians its usual that the oldest one is considered the leader until he/she reaches an age of 7-8 and leaves the group to search for a suitable mate.
After the leader left the pack, the members will start to fight over the position of the new leader.
Since the population of the raphian consists of 1/3 male, 1/3 female and 1/3 hermaphrodties, gen-defects very often occur under the hermaphrodites which influence their fertility. This defect let's some only get pregnant or produce sperm. Very rarely there are some who have the ability to to both.
Since Raphian can get very old, old and infertile raphian couple will join other infertile couples so they have the protection of the group, like in the days of their youth, again.
