I'm stepping down
Greetings,
Certain events have transpired that made me question how secure my personal information actually is on FA. I do not wish to be a target for anyone with sinister goals and as such, I've issued my resignation. There were some bumps, but I think it was a pretty good, if short, run.
Perhaps I will see some of you in another lifetime.

FA+

And lots of the information is that document is incorrect, also.
"The original site owner (Dragoneer) has not effectively reprimanded or fired ANY of the offending admins under his leadership. Every gross violation and problem is met with weak excuses, indifference, and endless second chances. There is no leadership or follow-through.
...
I’ve seen FA from behind the scenes. The administrative foundation of FA is badly broken, and the site owners seem unwilling or unable to make the tough decisions that will better serve the site and its users."

"From day-one, some of the original FA administrators have blatantly ignored the Admin Code Of Conduct, repeatedly handling trouble tickets outside of their departments (after countless warnings from owners, and while their own departments’ Terms Of Service tickets go unresolved), undermined and overturned Department Heads’ rulings, shown gross ignorance towards the AUP, spread false information about the AUP and site policies, botched countless trouble ticket rulings, acted unprofessionally, leaked private site information, and have intentionally hampered the ticket/administration process at every turn (we have found proof of this from chat logs, notes, and trouble tickets). Their actions have been childish, petty, and detrimental to the site and its users. The original site owner has known about this gross misconduct, but no action has been taken and nothing has improved. We found evidence in trouble tickets, chat logs, and notes that some of the FA admins were intentionally leaking private information, ignoring site policy, and trying to sabotage the administrative process. The original site owner (Dragoneer) has not effectively reprimanded or fired ANY of the offending admins under his leadership. Every gross violation and problem is met with weak excuses, indifference, and endless second chances. There is no leadership or follow-through."
What the hell are you letting go on here Dragoneer.
Furileaks in 2010, Viglinks in 2011.
I'm waiting until someone just breaks into the site, steals all the passwords, then bombs the site code into oblivion.
In the meantime I got my entire gallery backed up. nothing of value will be lost.
There's no such security breach at the moment.
The document that started this mes contains a bunch of google'd and whois data. A lot of it is incorrect, even. But none of it is related to FA, or obtained from FA.
FA's a target for hacking attempts / DDOS attacks and all that stuff pretty often, it was just a matter of time before anyone'd make a list of google'd info.
Besides, it's not just the new furocity guys that were targeted in the document. They tried to find info on every admin on here.
Doesn't mean they got it all right, though.
If one can't handle being at risk of getting googled / whois'd, though, FA admin might not be the job for you.
The fact that these attempts happen at all is worrying. It would be like if someone went to an airport and threatened everyone with a home-made volcano in an attempt of terrorism. Even though the weapon was useless, not thought-out or even a reason to be worried, you gotta wonder why they would do that in the first place and think about who else might come along with real attempts.
I strongly believe that it's the job that isn't worth the people, not the people who aren't worth the job. I would never put myself in a position of people finding out my information because from what I've seen over the years of my internet adventures, it's very easy to find everything about someone just from a leaked phone number or e-mail.
If I knew that strangers on-line with the aggressive intent to find my information knew where I lived? I'd be afraid.
(Aka, if the dox-ers decided to look up info on Furocity admins, they would have found just as much.)
Now, every large site comes under attack every now and then. Since FA's at the moment pretty much the largest furry community out there, FA's the most likely to be targeted.
This is why I personally don't ever use my real name on sites that can be linked to my online alias, along with other safety measures. This is also why all new admins get a account security lecture.
Now, regarding "putting one self in a position of people finding out one's information":
Just make sure they -can't- find that information. Don't put your full name on your profile, don't put your phone number online, etc, etc, etc. If they can't find it, what's the harm in them trying to?
