Natural selection doesn’t work

Natural selection doesn’t work once a species has the necessary intelligence to start making things idiot-proof
First, visit Darwin Awards website and peruse the fine examples of humanity at its wisest. Done? Good. Now think of all the stupid safety features you come across every day in your life. Besides... You don’t want to end up like them in a moment of temporary stupidity, do you?
However, that is not the question that is raised in this journal. The concern is what happens to the rest of us once that goal has been achieved. What kind of overprotective safeguards will be erected to ensure little Johnny doesnt kill himself following his GPS (walking) onto a highway and getting hit by a car. Laughing... Me too but in all reality its happened.

Here is a partial list of things that some people feel we need protecting from: smoking, salt, fats, cell phones, candy machines. You name something, anything that is bad for you and there is someone, somewhere, busy trying to save you from it.
At what moment do we pass the point of no return? When does progress towards an idiot proof future stop and will anyone stop it? More than likely, will we be all happily enjoying our plush ComfortCube not caring. Soon we will be told what to eat, what we can do and how to do it.
I'll leave you with this: when the contents are equal, the difference between a prison cell and a room is semantics.
Side note: I make a career out of being an occupational health and safety manager
Although the saying common sence aint so common comes to mind dont it ?
