While not as descriptive as my previous Rooth'roo entry, I typed all this up this morning. I was writing a bulletized list of concepts/themes that I associate with Rooth'ragon, to fuel them with ideas to play with. It ended up coming out like this. I may rewrite this section to be more story-oriented, like I did with Rooth'roo, but for now, this is a good block.
Themes and concepts associated with Rooth'ragon, with visual references, starting with a ref sheet:
(*) DESERTS (this is a big one) (White Sands, NM is his home ground, where he recharges his magic, admires / watches .. sunsets and the evenings, and the daytime, flies in the skies, chases lunch, dives through canyons, bridges gaps, and on fantastic worlds where he takes on a more native form, he's even been known to give rides) -- and that's not even all of the desert references. This is a big theme with Rooth.
(*) cultured (at a spa, fond of wine, dancing with his unicorn lady, on a cruise, etc)
(*) macro (considerate, constructive, helpful type, gentle, guardian, relaxed .. not the stereotypical destructive type)
(*) coffee (with a scarf, while listening to music, chatting with friends, hanging out ON Starbucks, while reading a book, ...)
(*) growth powers (playing with portals, studying how they work, letting them get carried away)
(*) transformation (not as common, but can be inventive, or incidental)
(*) nature (Stormcaller!, zen, harnessing its power, hugging a mountain, dancing with clouds, moping in the rain, tangled in the jungle, admiring a storm, ...)
(*) arcane (fixing a rift, conjuring magic,
(*) anachronistic (Tron, Skyrim, Mirror's Edge 2 3 4, Doctor Who, WoW, getting a tattoo, playing poker, City of Heroes, ...)
(*) working out (crunches!, sparring, sparring)
(*) space (space!)
(*) Solstice -- I was born on the Winter Solstice, and I hold a big party every year celebrating it. This is a design for a mug that lauragarabedian created for me. :) I gave her permission to decorate Rooth in a tribal fashion to honor our visit to see The Lion King play. I typically don't allow too much freedom in creative markings, because they detract from his simplicity, but sometimes I give in, especially when I implicitly trust the artist. ;)
Dude you were born on the solstice, cool X3
And while I think I have a few pics of Rooth destroying stuff, and there are certainly times where that can be fun, I'm primarily interested in the alternate direction of macroness. Although, to be fair, most of the helpful macro scenarios probably involve a certain degree of destruction. That one where Geemo and Rooth'roo are helping to build a building, for instance -- someone's going to have to repave all those roads and sidewalks when they're done, because there's no way those things weren't wrecked. Hmm, though, Rooth'roo's weight is distributed over far more surface area than normal macros. Might be he causes very little damage where he goes. Except that he's clumsy. lol
