...and I love it. If you didn't know, PCA stands for Poke-Combat Academy of Higher Learning:
pokecombatacademy
I actually had a lot of fun creating these characters, and I'm hoping that I'll get a chance to use them a lot in my art/writing and most of all, in roleplays. I've seen other people's characters around for a while now, and have always wondered how one joined up with the PCA group. Well, I found out, and as a result, here are my 'Mons, man! I can't wait to start working on pictures to go with these guys.
Though I worry because I've joined up rather late, that they won't be very original. Ah well, gotta cast that fear aside and see what happens. I now present my first (and most likely only) Team!
~~~
Team Ohana
An odd bunch, Team Ohana is composed of widely different Pokemon types, and what some might call social outcasts. Their skill is nowhere near incredible, though they’re just a smidge above mediocre. ‘Mons with several different life goals shouldn’t make such a compatible team, and yet this group of young potentials acts more like a family unit. They’re quite close, and when they are finally coaxed to battle, their disinterest is lost and they give it their all. They treat the challenge as a sport, instead of a step ladder to fame; and win or lose they will always make sure to take care of their own.
Birth Name: Rosalynn Habanero
Nickname: Roz
Type: Fire
Species: Arcanine
Grade: Sophomore
Team: Ohana
Roz is an odd sort of gal. She’s living proof that ‘looks can be deceiving’. In her pup days, her obnoxious and overzealous attempts at friendship usually ended in heartache, at no one’s fault but her own. So instead of merely toning down her intense personality, she leapt to the other side of the spectrum, and became quite the reclusive little Growlithe. The time alone had her honing her culinary skills- and for lack of anything better to do, had her training as well. Soon her abilities in battle were impressive enough to catch the attention of her Police-Arcanine father. He then convinced the reluctant ‘mon to attend the Poke-Combat Academy of Higher Learning. Not before he worked her even harder, however, which then caused her to evolve.
The attention which was so difficult for her younger self to obtain suddenly rushed at her- “Oh what a gorgeous mane and tail!” “What lovely hair!” “You’ve got such pretty fur!” It was enough to make the huge but withdrawn Arcanine do something drastic- like lopping off her entire head-mane. She now wears what remains of her cream colored headfur with plenty of gel, and up in short, boy-ish spikes. The rest of her long fur remains, which includes her chest-ruff and tail. Her mane might’ve not been exactly why ‘mons were paying attention to her, but it shows to what lengths she’ll go to remain unnoticed by all.
Roz is much happier under the radar, most likely in a kitchen, cooking up plenty of food to add on to the bulk that she carries. While her arms and legs are solid and muscular, her stomach, and various other parts of her body are a lot less defined. Let’s face it, she’s a thick gal and she knows it, not that she thinks that there’s anything wrong with that. Despite being all around large, and visibly intimidating to some, she speaks in a soft sort of way- as if she were lightly growling out her words. The rumbling isn’t meant to be intimidating; she’s aiming to soothe those who decide to attempt a conversation with her. Roz has a very bad habit of using food to help solve her teammates personal problems, and they suspect she merely uses them as an excuse for her to be cooking while dishing out advice.
What may come as a surprise is that despite her much more aggressive teammates, Roz is Team Ohana’s Leader. She doesn’t quite understand why, she’s not an expert tactician, and while she attempts to have fun battling she doesn’t really hold a passion for it like most. There’s clearly a maternal vibe when it comes to her and her team, and the Arcanine’s loyalty is practically tangible. She is overly protective of Cataleen, due to the Abra’s condition, even if the smaller ‘mon can take care of herself. There’s no doubt that such a powerhouse is capable of untold ferocity, but this gentle giant doesn’t seem to have any way to tap into her vicious side. Or does she?
Birth Name: Cataleen Narke
Nickname(s): Cat, Lee-Lee, Kitten
Type: Psychic
Species: Abra
Grade: Sophomore
Team: Ohana
At PCA, the physically and mentally elite thrive easily enough. That is the understatement of the century when referring to Cataleen. An Abra of particularly high intelligence, Cat isn’t without her quirks. The ability to sleep through the majority, if not all her classes, and still learn whatever it is the Professor was speaking about is an ability many a ‘mon would kill for. However, this young Abra thinks of it as more of a curse than a blessing. Suffering from severe Narcolepsy, she is usually seen curled up into a little ball, or with her entire body slack and lightly snoring away. This skill of hers usually creates animosity between her and the other ‘mons that actually have to study their tails off to succeed.
Being a rather small Abra, if she were to collapse in a busy hallway, it would be disastrous if not for her teleporting ability. Even while she’s unconscious, she can usually manage to phase out of harms way. While she has a few interesting abilities for her everyday survival, Cat is nearly useless in the arena. Her team forgives her for it, but one can’t help but feel like dead weight when she literally is. To remedy this, Cat has gone out of her way to research and learn moves that would turn her Handicap into an advantage. So far, she’s only been able to perfect one or two moves that are helpful.
When she does manage to stay awake for a long period of time, this Abra is more than happy to find the nearest beach and hit the waves- amusingly enough. She’s not very formidable when it comes to muscle mass, having almost no physical strength to speak of, and yet she can still balance on a board. Having grown up on an island, she’s used to hotter weather, and it almost seems to help her stay awake longer. Thus the air conditioned classrooms tend to have the opposite effect on her. Cataleen’s a bit on the plump side, but nowhere near as thick as her friend and teammate, Roz. One of her more ‘pronounced’ features is her broad thighs and large rear that seems to give her tail a bit of power behind it.
She has a tuft of dark brown fur that sticks out from her forehead, somewhat tussled, since she’s technically suffering from chronic bed-head. Despite her ‘lazy’ actions, she’s very fond of vibrant colors, and floral patterned outfits; resulting in her going about looking as if she dressed with her eyes closed. On her feet, she can be seen wearing her bright pink Mimirol slippers- a trademark of hers. Cat also has the habit of waking up at random moments, and joining in a conversation that might’ve been going on nearby- or to spout out sleepy sounding bits of wisdom.
Birth Name: Francesco Clemente Jigliemo
Nickname: Frankie
Type: Normal
Species: Jiggleypuff
Grade: Sophomore
Team: Ohana
Francesco Jigliemo (Frankie, to those who want to keep their teeth) is an unusually aggressive specimen of his species. He’s quick to anger, be it outside of the arena or in the hallways of PCA. Being relatively short and let’s face it, a Jiggleypuff, he seems to have something to prove. One can easily pinpoint his insecurities about being a rather feminine featured ‘mon, though whether or not someone wants to provoke him using such an obvious weakness, is up to them. He’s got weight behind his attacks, and since he’s so ferocious (even if it’s uncalled for) he’s a formidable opponent.
His anger usually gets in the way, however, if an opponent is particularly clever. It’s easy to blind-sight him, and distract this ‘mon when he’s that furious. What’s amusing is that just as he’s easy to anger- nothing calms him down quicker than a nice piece of female tail. Hell, the girl just has to touch him, and he’s Jiggleypuff-putty in their paws. he fact that his attention span is less than 5 seconds when it comes to women ensures that he is unable to grab hold of a lasting relationship. Or any relationship at all. If the chance arises, this puff is a playa- much to the displeasure of his female teammates.
Immature? Yes. Very. Much of it is due to the fact that his grandmother began her very own make-up corporation when she was young, and his entire family has prospered. While he appreciates all the cash enabling him to get what he wants, he also tries to distance himself from the ‘Preppy’ or ‘Rich boi’ façade as much as possible. Dying his bangs black, as well as dressing like a sloppy jackass and tinkering in messy mechanics should do the trick, right? Yes, besides fighting, the Jiggleypuff has a nack for things mechanical- and he seems to think that's all he needs, resulting in broken machinery half the time. If only he'd accept the fact that it's raw talent, and he needs to hone the skill, but once again his pride gets in the way.
His only complaint about the Team is the fact that he isn’t the Leader. This causes half assed attempts at mutiny to spark up every once in a while. He’d easily go power-hungry, and his gal friends know this. The truth is that he’s just too immature, and perhaps deep down he realizes that Roz is the right ‘mon for the job. Why or how Team Ohana puts up with his crap, is a mystery to many- but hey, as long as he’s not their problem, who cares?
Birth Name: Paviella Maksimova
Nickname: Pavi
Type: Dragon
Species: Dragonair
Grade: Sophomore
Team: Ohana
Paviella has a very genteel attitude about her, and even if she is taller than Cataleen and Francesco, she’s often mistaken as the daintiest member of Team Ohana. The Dragonair speaks with a faint Russian accent, and isn’t very fond of using contractions in her sentences. She’s considered an Ice Queen, or at least severely stuck up by a few other students, and that isn’t the case. Far from it. She’s not very easily distracted once she sets her mind to something. Because of this, her single-mindedness doesn’t leave her much time for socializing outside of her Team, and she usually overlooks any attempts at friendship without realizing it.
Unlike the rest of her squad, who have plenty of meat on their bones, Pavi is quite delicate in appearance. Her graceful neck arches just slightly, leading down to her slim but firm shoulders and arms; body holding a feminine curve to it, despite her small bosom and hips. To anyone who would know of Ballet, she has the perfect body for it- and that is all she really cares about. If one wishes to underestimate her in the arena, that’s there loss, because she’s certainly not in poor shape. Lithe form aiding in agile attacks, she also has the advantage of knowing the widest range of moves, with being a Dragon type.
Just like her dancing, her fighting style is a precise performance, and she is composed even when going up against larger opponents. Rarely does she lose her cool, though it has happened, and when it does it isn’t a pretty sight. Her biggest aggravation seems to be Francesco and his utter carelessness for other ‘mon’s feelings. (Yes, the irony is completely lost on her) They argue frequently, with the Jiggleypuff yelling his head off and Pavi giving sharp verbal retorts- at least until their Team Leader gets in between them to smooth things over. For whatever reason, the Dragonair seems to hold a great respect for Roz, whom she always addresses as Rosalynn.
When it comes to schoolwork, she strives to improve herself where it's needed, but books and papers certainly aren't the most important things to this 'mon. Battling helps her train her body, the classes teach her the basics of life- the Dragonair understands the need. She merely refuses to accept it. While her grades suffer from her carelessness in regards to academics, she is in no way dim. This particular pretty face just doesn’t care- and she only bothers to keep her grades high enough to continue attending PCA, as well as remain with her understanding and supportive Teammates.
Hey Blu, would like to ask if my rotom named Neon Lites could join your team, he is sort of an outcast himself. He was a rotom born inside a cd player so he only talks through music and can change his electrical color at will.
Aw, dude, the teams are four mon only, aren't they? And even then... I don't think it'd really work to have another person sharing the team. At least not my first team. =c Sorry dood.
