Buildin' a fursuit!
Been a long time since I've made a costume, let alone a furry costume. Did some lookin' around to see if there's been any related innovation. Surprised at what I've seen! Some methods that were fairly common seem to've died out, while others seem to've emerged.
The most notable innovations that I've seen are the balaclava method for making a moving jaw, and the use of resin to make realistic jaws and eyes (so cool!). I used to use molded latex to make jaws, plaster to make teeth, and ordered taxidermy eyes from vendors. Worked pretty well, but resin is much cheaper, and just as effective.
As for things that seem to've died out, there's the beach ball method for making large heads, palmless paws, knee legs, skin-tight suits, fitted suits, furred latex, wrist-snap tails, tendon-tails, and many more things. Why did these things die out? I dunno. And it kinda makes me sad that they're not around anymore (at least, not that I saw).
What species? Some kind of dog. Style? Well, commissions to do a semi-realistic head were really rare, so I think I'mma try one of them. And I like to wear clothes over fursuits, so skin-tight seems to be the way to go. I don't think I'm going to do anything with animatronics, as that's always been a really mleh thing for me. I dunno. I guess I'll take it as I go.
Also! And thank you Metonymy for pointing this out to me, but Cuddle_Puppy_Quilts is having a raffle for one of their mmmazing quilts! So, if you're on board with that, watch their account, and link the raffle in a journal.

Anybody who's read this, and anybody who hasn't, g'luck in all your endeavors! And to me, good luck in mine.

That'll be useful to know for the social purpose of avoiding the topic, as I like the look more and will likely proceed with the skin-tight aspect, regardless of social stigma.
Indeed; yes, useful knowledge to have.

I don't like how some of the smilies are named. A raised eyebrow is not inherently sarcastic.
As for paint, my girlfriend is in no way furry, but she agrees that it would be fun to paint the jaw with me. So, if that happens, I will have to politely decline your offer regarding acrylics.
