Canada Day Fur Walk 2014
in 1 week Canadian furs will be taking over the Capital of Canada, Ottawa.
On the first of July every fur, suiters and non suiters, are welcome to join us for the Annual Fur Walk.
There are some changes this year.
For starters Zets unfortunately wont be the host this year. This walk came came into existence when he and his two friends decided to suit up on Canada Day. That simple idea snow balled into a fun event where 2 suiters turned into 20 suiters not counter non suited furs.
For that I think our favourite Coon deserves as many thank yous and hugs.
But this year, even though last minute, I will be hosting the 2014 Canada Day Fur walk.
Every fur is welcome to join us on this day.
Almost everything is the same since last year. Only slight changes to teh route will be made due to construction. I shall be heading down town in the next day or so to map out an alternative rout.
A tarp will most likely not be provided for the fire works. Please bring ether a blanket, towels or even a chair for yourselves.
We also will not be giving out mini flags. I sincerely apologize but due to this being last minute time isn't our friend.
BUT, if you wish to create your own, please do. :D This walk is all about fun and being Canadian. :)
Our traditional Flag were the Canadian flag with a K9 paw print. If you like to can even put your species paw print inside to show even though we are all different kinds of species we are all Canadian :D.
The times also will the THE EXACT SAME:
1:30 pm
Meet up at the Supreme Court of Canada, on Wellington (same street as Parliament Hill).
2:00 pm
Furwalk begins! We go from the Supreme Court, down past Parliament Hill and the Chateau Laurier, finally making our way over to the National Art gallery. There will be one major rest stop and three planned group pictures (at the War Memorial, the US Embassy and by the Art Gallery itself.)
4:00 pm
Meals, Socialization, Relaxation; at this point, there are no planned events for several hours. We suggest you go eat, hang out with your friends/fellow furs locally until at least an hour before the fireworks.
10:00 pm
Watching the fireworks by the Museum of Civilization in Gatineau
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Alexandra Bridge linking Ottawa and Gatineau near the Museum will be closed between 9pm and 11pm. If you are planning on using this bridge to join us, CROSS BEFORE 9:00PM
What you should bring with you to the FCD walk?
WATER/ GATORADE/POWERADE and little snacks. If you have never walked in the summer with a fursuit on, plenty of people will tell you its a challenge of endurance. Be smart, stay cool and HYDRATED.
If you have a medical condition that requires anything, make sure you have it with you.
Bring a handler if you need one. Yes not everyone will be suiting up, and yes we do ask those who aren`t to give us a hand. BUT they arent obligated to. If you know your suit requires a handler then please make accomodations.
Bring a towel or blanket to sit on, we do not have the tarp this year.
If you bring children, THEY ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
What we will not tolerate:
Drama.
Harrassment.
Anything illegal.
No drugs/alcohol.
Remember, this is a Public event. There will be children and families everywhere. We want to give the public the best positive impressive towards the Furry Community. And of course, for it to be fun for EVERYONE.
If there are any concerns or comments as well as any ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me here or FB if you have me as a friend. :)
