ROTTROOTSGrowth and Characteristics
Seed - All rottroots begin as a seed. When you buy a rottroot seed you need to take it home to plant and nurture it. Overnight it will grow and by morning you will find a fully grown rottroot in its place.
Build - All RottRoots have a bulky canine build, much like the fu dogs of myth. In their lower jaw they have two large snaggle teeth that are always visible and are used for grappling with other rottroots. These teeth are pretty much useless and are mostly for show. However, they do sport a full set of teeth and tend to nip prying fingers.
Size - All rottroots are about the size of a large house cat or small dog. The smallest are the plant types, followed by the shrub type being slightly larger in size, while tree types are largest of the three.
Sounds - RottRoots usually choose to be silent and although they can communicate with a series of clicking noises and chirps, more often than not, if they choose to make a noise, they they make a chuff like sound.
Types
Plant - The most commonly seen rottroot. While they still vary in rarity, plant type rottroots are the easiest to breed.
Shrub - Shrub while common are not bred as often. They tend to have more leaves the flowers.
Tree - RottRoots of the tree variety are rare and tend to have branches that grow out like horns or antlers that vary in both shape and size.
Seedling - A strange mutation resulting in the rottroot not fully growing from its seed stage. Seedlings are considered the perma-pups of their breed and will never grow beyond this stage or size.
Withered - Withered rottroots don't normally happen unless through extreme neglect. However, rare cases of naturally withered rottroots have happened. Though no one really understands how. Withered rottroots are weaker than their fellow rottroots and sickly in appearance. They become less active the longer they live and they generally look more miserable.
Diet and Care
Food - RottRoots, much like plants enjoy both sunlight and water. However being part mammal they require a little more sustenance to keep them going. Flora + Fauna provides a special made kibble that helps balance out their diet. Unfortunately, rottroots have been known to experiment with different tastes, so neither fish nor rodents are safe in their presence.
Sunning - All rottroots will sun themselves for at least four hours each day. They will do this by finding a bright patch of sun, stretching their head up skyward, and fanning out all of their petals to absorb as much sunlight as they possibly can. During these times they will remain unmoving. If a rottroot is kept from the sunlight or if it is a gloomy day, generally they will become moody and begin to sulk.
Soaking - Rottroots love water and will take every opportunity to soak in it. However, too much water for long periods of time can make them sick.
Pruning - If a rottroot's foliage becomes overgrown, they need to be pruned. This can be a traumatic experience for them and will result in a lot of struggling and distress cries.
Pests - Like all plants, rottroots are exposed to harmful bugs and animals that will feed off of their foliage.
NPC's
Coby - Coby is the owner of the Flora + Fauna and the creator/caretaker of the rottroots species. He is the one who usually sells them and finds them new homes.
Abby - Abby is the assistant worker in the Flora + Fauna. Usually she is responsible for feeding and watering the rottroots. Though she has helped in placing them with new owners from time to time.
Disclaimer
Rottroots are a closed species by me and can only be obtained through me. I'm not saying that you can't make a similar plant critter of your own, they just won't be a part of this species.
