What Is a Chae?

General Information
Chae are a fairy-like creature that has lived for thousands of years undetected by people.
The Chae are a fully evolved species like humans and have entire civilizations of their own.
The Chae live in almost every forest in the world with the exception for those that are over populated with humans.
The Chae do what they can to avoid humans at all cost, however live peacefully with most other animals.
Chae are fairly small, usually maxing out in height at 4’5".
In some rare cases they can get up to 5 feet tall.
The Chae are born with a stone in their heads called the Soul Crystal.
This crystal holds their soul and also works as a mood stone.
The color of the stone changes depending on the mood of the Chae.
The original color of the stone is the same color as the Chae's eyes.
The Chae have small wings that can lift them for a short amount of time, usually less than three hours.
They use these to reach birds nest for eggs and fruit that is high up in the trees.
The can also use this to see over the forest trees in order to find their way when lost.
Chae can live up to about 10,000 years, but the oldest Chae ever recorded is 10,172 years old.
However few Chae pass away from old age.
Most Chae die long before the 10,000 year mark due to either death while hunting, accsidental death or disease.
The average age for a Chae to live is about 7,000 years.
When a Chae dies its body is decomposed into the soil around it and its gem becomes a seed for a unique and beautiful flower.
This flower holds the power of a Chae’s soul and is used to make a Chae pregnant.
The Chae have a few powers that they all share which include changing gender at will (which I will explain more below) and invisibility to anyone without good intentions for the forest they live in.
Individual Chae have been known to have various other powers as well including healing, telekinesis, light mind control, and one special power called soul sharing.
Soul sharing is a very rare power of Chae exclusive to "Cúpla Foirfe" or "Perfect Twins". It allows them to share their vision over long distances with other Chae that have the power.
These Chae tend to be the top hunters and are highly valued memebers of society.
Sex & Reproduction
As stated above, the Chae have the ability to change gender whenever they wish.
They can have either a penis, a vagina, both, or neither at one time.
A Chae will usually settle in to one gender by puberty, depending on what they are more comfortable with. However some Chae continue to shift even beyond that period.
A Chae reaches puberty around year 1,000 and are then able to get pregnant.
Chae take a long time to hit puberty due to the rawpower in their soul crystal taking time to stabilize after birth.
Unlike most other species breast do not determine the gender of a Chae.
A Chae can have breast and still be a male.
Young Chae are referred to as Kits.
Both Male and Female Chae can get pregnant.
When a Chae is pregnant or takes on the role of care giver it will grow breast and take care of any kits, even if it is not their own.
Some Chae choose to keep their breast even when not in the care giving position.
This however is not a common practice due to the fact that breast get in the way of hunting and other activities.
When a Chae wants to become pregnant, he or she must find the flower of a dead Chae.
When they do they must combine the power of the soul in the flower with their own in their soul crystal.
This combination of power forces the eggs in a adult Chae to become fertilized.
The power from the flower is directly transferred into the egg the Chae has and will effect both their eye and life crystal color.
Once this process is complete, the flower will start wilting away within moments.
If the flower dies before it is found the soul will vanish forever and that Chae will never live another life.
Chae do not remember their past lives, although sometimes they can remember small details.
When it is time to give birth, most Chae will change into a female for obvious reasons.
Kit Chae are born as eggs and hatch about four months after they are layed.
Chae usually only have one Kit at a time, however in rare cases they may have what is called "Cúpla Foirfe" or "Perfect Twins".
These are twins that not only share the same general looks, but also the same soul. This happens when a soul splits inside a parent Chae while the egg is still young, much like regular twins. This is quite diffrent however because it is much more rare and means that a new chae soul has been born. This is the only way brand new chae come in to the world and it is seen as a miricle by the Chae speacies. Ususally a pair of cúpla foirfe will have the same powers, eye colors, and crystal color.
Due to the fact that the Chae do not need sex to have Kits, the Chae use sex as more of a pleasure.
Coat Coloring
A Chae's markings depend on the flower it came from and the Chae who gave birth to it.
The Chae grow a thick coat of fur around their necks, hips, and feet to keep them warm during the harsh winters.
This fluff also helps them glide through the air for longer periods of time as well.
The fur on their necks is always a shade darker than their normal fur color.
The Chae has a mane all year long that goes from the end of its hair to the mid of it's back (right before it's wings) and on it's tail. It is the same color as their hair.
