Anti-Drama Llama Movement Newsletter
If you have certain questions about how the Raffle works and want to know more, here are some questions we at the Movement have been asked along with our answers.
General Questions -
Q. "Are there records of your previous raffles online?"
A. As a matter of fact, yes. You can find them here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/609530/ - Raffle #1
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/628938/ - Raffle #2
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/663365/ - Raffle #3
Donating Art -
Q. "I saw your journal here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/647462/ and want to know what you mean by 'Contributing Artist'?"
A. Contributing Artists are those that donate their time and energy to make artwork for the winner of our monthly raffle.
Q. "With so many artists offering donations, how are these prizes distributed?"
A. Different artists distribute in different ways. Some do prints by snail mail, while others will send a high quality digital file to the winner, and others will post the work on their FA page to give to the winner. It all depends on what the winner and the artist agree upon. So far, there have not been any issues as far as I have heard as far as the winner receiving their prizes.
Q. "I'm an artist donating art to the raffle, but I also want to buy tickets. Can I do that?"
A. Artists are initially not able to purchase tickets when the raffle starts. This is to give as many people a fair chance, and so the tickets are set aside only for those who are not donating art. However, with all the ticket slots to fill, it's quite possible that tickets won't sell out by the end of the month. To this end, artists can buy tickets if there are slots remaining once the raffle has been open for one week.
Proceeds -
Q. "What happens with the money donated? Does it all go to one individual in need, or does it get distributed to multiple people?"
A. All money donated by ticket purchases or general donations are given to the raffle recipients. This is only the 3rd raffle, and is on its way to being the most organized one so far. The first raffle was started by
kittyoffandomdoom and was originally just for
ashi who is a friend of his and was having financial trouble. The raffle was such a huge success that they raised more than what they were originally expecting.
The second raffle which ended on February 28th, 2009 was the first to donate proceeds to multiple people. While it didn't sell out like the first one did, it still managed to raise $320.59 which was split evenly (as possible) to the four recipients.
For the third and all future raffles, the recipients are going to be those on my EXTREME Risk and HIGH Risk Support Journals, which can be found here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/647439/ - Extreme Risk
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/647444/ - High Risk
These are people whose financial situations are ones the Movement has been following and keeping track of for the past few months, so they definitely need the funds. With any luck, the success of the raffle will help them greatly.
Q. "Who have received proceeds from the previous raffles?"
A. Proceeds from the raffles have been donated to the following:

(
and
will receive funds as soon as I get their PayPals and finish wrestling with PayPal to get a fund transfer block lifted)
Once we've been able to help enough people, this will get a section of it's own here on the Movement.
Tickets -
Q. "When will tickets go on sale and what are the details for buying them?"
A. Tickets for the Raffle typically go on sale halfway through the month.
(This month, tickets will go on sale on April 15th)
We give the first half of the month to rallying the raffle's donating artists, and then about halfway through, we start the raffle which lasts until the end of the month, or when tickets sell out. (Whichever comes first) Tickets are currently $2 a ticket, and you can purchase up to 10 tickets per raffle.
Q. "To buy a ticket I have to donate 2 dollars with my user name in the comment, right?"
A. Yes, each ticket is a $2 donation to our PayPal address:
anti_Drama_llama_movement@yahoo.com
To pick up your ticket, log into your PayPal account and click "Send Money". From there, it will ask for an e-mail address of the PayPal account you wish to Send Money to. It will offer a couple of options on how you want to send the money, but no matter what option you choose, there will be a textbox for "Notes" on the PayPal screen before confirming your money transfer.
In that notes box, enter your FA name so we can associate the name and e-mail that comes through over PayPal to your FA account. This lets us know who is buying tickets. If you don't provide your FA name right away, we'll give a chance to claim the donation so that we don't have to automatically refund the money. But if left unclaimed, we won't have any choice but to refund the money (minus PayPal fees).
Q. "This is a really good thing you are doing. Can I donate more than $20 for 10 tickets?"
A. Yes! Absolutely! Any extra donations to the Raffle will be greatly appreciated. We will add any extra donations to the Proceeds Pot to be distributed to the Raffle Recipients. The Anti-Drama Llama Movement is 100% Non-Profit, and all Proceeds raised will go to the furs in need!
However, if you want to chip in a little something to the Raffle Organizer who helped make all this possible, you can make a donation OtakuMan24 by using this PayPal address:
cymbaline81@hotmail.com
Q. "Can I buy tickets through methods other than PayPal?"
A. At the moment, No. We are only set up to accept funds via PayPal. PayPal does accept e-checks and Credit/Debit card payments though, so if you don't have the funds directly in your PayPal account, that won't be a problem. We might look into other options in the future.
Prizes -
Q. "How are prizes distributed?"
Once the raffle is over, we tally up how many artists have signed up by then and split that number into 50%, 25%, and 25%.
For example, say we have 20 artists. This would then mathematically figure out into 10, 5, and 5.
This means that 1st place will get 10 prizes, 2nd place 5 prizes, and 3rd place 5 prizes.
I then count which artists are doing multiple prizes.
Artists who are donating for a specific place are automatically counted as 1 of the prizes for the place they are pledging to. Say an artist is donating once piece of work for 2nd place only. In this case, it would be a prize meant for 2nd place, and count as one of their 5.
Next, I take artists who are donating more than one prize and divvy them up like so:
*If an artist has 2 prizes for two places, their first prize automatically counts towards one of the 10 for 1st Place. The art for 2nd place is considered a bonus for 2nd Place.
*If the artist is offering 3 prizes, then it works the same way only now there's a bonus prize for 2nd and 3rd place.
*If the artist has a selection of prizes to choose from, then 1st place gets first pick, 2nd place gets 2nd, and 3rd place gets the remainder. Again, for 1st Place, this counts as one of their 50%, and a Bonus prize for 2nd and 3rd Place.
*If an artist is offering more than 3 prizes, then their prizes are split up amongst 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the same 50%, 25%, 25% style as all the artists combined. (If an artist was giving away 4 prizes for example, 1st place would get 2, 2nd place 1, and 3rd place 1, all from the same donating artist)
After doing the math and figuring out how many are spoken for, 1st place choose artists of their choice from the donating list.
In this case, with 20 artists, let's say 3 are giving away multiple prizes. Their prizes count as 3 of the 10 for 1st place. So 1st place then can choose 7 more artists (except for any artists that donated their prize to another place, which will only be 1 artist in this example) that they want.
For 2nd place, since 1 artist pledged their art to him, that counts as 1 of his five, meaning that he can pick 4 more artists to choose from. The art from the other 3 artists offering multiple prizes are bonus prizes.
Finally, of the artists with only one prize remaining left, those will be the 5 3rd place receives. 3rd place will also get prizes from those that pledged bonus prizes to third place.
So after the breakdown, 1st place gets 10 prizes, 2nd place gets 8 (after bonus prizes), and 3rd place gets 7 (after bonus prizes).
As more artists sign up between the start of the month and the end of the raffle, then the number of prizes for each place will start to grow, and make the jackpot even sweeter.
