Welcome to the Village!

You've stumbled into one of the many elusive Spriggan villages! Now that you've found us out, please take the time to learn about these lovely critters, what they are, and where they come from!
Spriggans can be described as mischievous little plant faeries who typically sport an insatiable curiosity, and a nose for finding trouble. They are born from the seeds of plants, with the help of magical intervention, and consider themselves more as flora than fauna. They emerge resembling sentient sprouts, but adopt the aesthetic traits of the first animal they come in contact with (to varying degrees of success). Due to this unusual development, Spriggans appear as unique hybrids between plant and animals, and no two Spriggans are exactly alike!
The colors and personalities of these peculiar pixies are determined more by the plant they were born of, than the animal they outwardly mimic. They may develop an affinity for animal life (humans included), or they may grow to be weary or even spiteful towards anything deviating from the gentle familiarity of the local flora.
The magic donated to make the faeries possible comes from what the Spriggans collectively worship as "The Mother"; the largest, most long lived tree in the forest. The Mother, of any forest, is always revered as an ancient entity, and it's speculated that she produces Spriggans as a way of gathering information about the ever changing and curiously adaptive world of humans and animals. All that a Spriggan observes eventually finds its way back to the mother, and informs all the plant life of the forest. Unfortunately, not all are keen observers, but most try. Their miniature size (of approximately four to six inches) lends well to spying undetected, as many Spriggans vest a lot of effort towards keeping their existence a secret.
Despite their elusive and secretive nature, spotting a Spriggan is said to bring you great fortune. Perhaps one day, you'll be lucky enough to spot one for yourself!
