Well, I'm not sorry for my opinion but I'm not trying to be a dick. I guess I'm just used to headshots not being the price of the usual fullbody. Hell, I just got a headshot, fully rendered, for $35 as the artist's usual. Everyone differs, of course.

Worry not, I didn't think you were being a dick. Your expectations make sense. I checked your gallery and saw you commissioned coloured lineart commissions more than fully painted pieces, which would explain why you were surprised by the prices. Even coloured lineart is a completely different workflow than Lofi's paintings.

Since Lofi is able to complete painted art on a professional level, and he's working from home, the only time he should be charging 35USD is if he can complete that image in a half-hour or less. Professional artists covering their own expenses (especially college loans and insurance) need to earn 30/hr bare minimum just to survive. I'm not sure which artist you commissioned a fully rendered headshot for 35USD, but if they're as good as Lofi, and it takes them more than an hour their prices and expectations are amateur and not professional.

Calling an artist's pricing "hefty" is disrespectful, so I'm glad that wasn't your intention. Now that you know he isn't overcharging, I hope you reconsider voicing that kind of opinion under artist journals in the future.

In closing, I'm a fan of Gar's design! Hope you and Lofi get to work together soon. :)

ditto what stig said, lofi's prices for his work are totally justified if a bit small, the industry standard for this kind of work is much higher. :P
i'd be all over this myself if i actually had any money to commission people, but the prices are totally fair.

It's a little expensive for me now...I need to consider about it.

If I wasn't paying to repair a $2000 camera right now, I'd be all over this. Really love your work. :)

Really tempted to nab a $70 one but I'm working full-time and cannot even cover my medical expenses right now haha so perhaps it's wise for me to wait-- but i'll definitely consider one in the future when i have some spending money c:

these prices are absolutely fair or if anything, are a bit low. these are paintings after all i'm not sure how people can think they're all that high..

also for future reference: how do you feel about owl-looking characters, would something like that be a species you can do? i saw a few avian characters in your gallery but none were as forward facing of eyes/as small of a beak as my designs so i was curious.

I've actually really been itching to do some owls. Avians in general really. But owls are just the best. Not sure why I haven't done any yet.
