I never though I would be one to jump ship with this site. But after the adds I've had popping up with family members in the room and other non furry adults who already thing what I do is nothing but porn work it's becoming more and more likely. If you run into a website that you need to allow, you can just rename the hosts file to hosts.old and refresh the page.

While this is an effective blocking tactic, depending on the actual size or your hosts file, it can slow your browsing performance. Just something to consider.

I've found it to have the exact opposite effect. I no longer have to wait for ads to load. Also, seeing as the hosts file is just text, you shouldn't see a performance hit unless the file gets up around 1MB.

And 1MB of ASCII text is a OMFG-lot of text entries.

This is true when done correctly. I've just seen people download huge pre-generated files and wonder why their browser is chugging away. It shouldn't be a problem if you know what you're doing.

You know I actually had a good laugh the other night too cus when I logged in I seen a add for PayPal right at the top, and as far as I know PayPal has this site blocked and marks as a porn site... and any invoiced including Furaffities name are investagated and your account gets blocked. So it doesn't make sence to advertise here if they don't like FA "shrugs"

It's weird, everyone's talking about this, I haven't seen a single one of these human pr0n ads. But I do get ads for credit cards, hotels and insurance.

if your SFW filter is on they are not supposed to show, I say "not supposed to" because there have been many many reports of them getting past the SFW filter.

I've heard at least 8 furs have gotten in trouble for running into these ads in the work place WHILE under Safe For Work mode (I believe a couple are ALWAYS in SFW mode and are clean art lovers)

The only external ads I seem to get are those which involve sites I've recently viewed, or products I have / view regularly, or those closely related.

The cynic in me believes there would be less complaining in general if they were gay porn ads. :3 I honestly don't see a problem with it unless they are, in fact, showing when using the SFW filter. I keep my filter on General and also have yet to see any of these ads. It makes good business sense to try to sell you porn when you're looking at porn.

I would hardly call it good business; not everyone that signs up for FA wants to see porn. We still have children joining in on the site as well as unregistered visitors. That gives artists a bad image when a visitor enters FA and is bombarded by porn advertisements full of viruses. I'm not gay, unlike quite a few here, however I wouldn't care whether they were gay advertisements or straight- They are disgusting and they need to be removed.

FA has been doing a lot of crap over the years, and a lot of people have threatened to leave over various things, this is the first time I have done so and only because these ads make me hugely uncomfortable.

FA contains porn yes, drawn porn, artwork, huge difference between that and the real thing, and no where else is my work displayed alongside the real thing, choosing to stay here is choosing to say I am okay with my work being right next to these ads, which I am not.

Also, we should not have to report ads, the staff should screen them in the first place.

The staff WAS screening them, however the filters weren't working properly which is prolly why they turned them off entirely until they can fix it. but then, filters don't ALWAYS work, so they want people to report any that shouldn't have made it through so they could remove them manually.

Again.... they were meant to only be showing the adult ads on adult content, therefore... your content would never be shown alongside any of these ads in question. but again, it seems that feature was not working properly either.

I understand that some people don't want RL porn mixed in with the furry porn, but I also understand how great revenue generated from ads can be. Maybe if so many people didn't use adblock, there wouldn't be a need to add more ads...

Personally, I think they should set it up so that the "adult ads" are ones paid for by furries and get shown in place of the standard 4 banner ads on adult images/pages, since adult ads weren't allowed in those.

But in the end it's impossible to please EVERYONE of this site, they want to improve it and no matter what they add a bunch of people wont like it.

Adblock is on my laptop, but not my cell phone. This is also in courtesy to visitors that generally don't have or have the need to run Adblock. Even if this is an adult site there's still kids on here and dispite popular opinion, a 12 year old does NOT need to submerge into the filth. DA is no better 'professional' looks wise but I'll deal with the damned children rather than deal with the overload of adult ads, even with SFW on.

Those Adult ads are teaming with viruses, malware, spyware, and worst of all Ransom Ware that will encrypt your files unless you pay $500 or higher to unencrypt your files. I'm with you on this. I myself am a "clean" fur. I never use the adult filter and I only use the mature filter because I have submissions containing blood and mild gore. These ads are found on the mature setting (at least up until today), and I don't want them next to my art, either.

What this sounds like, is a complaint that small ads on the margins that support the site are bad because ew sex. But the actual popular content of the site = wasn't an issue before someone else brought it. Browsing in SFW mode doesn't make your corner of the site an island... the site is the site... it's not possible to use it without having a connection to the adult-furry stigma in any professional context, people are fooling themselves if they think it ever was. That's my opinion as both a lover of furry stuff and an employer. The ew sex sounds more like just resentment about commerce at large. Who is paying to use this site... has anyone ever heard the word entitlement? It's not that porn ads are entitled to be here, the mental gymnastics are just puzzling. Everyone has complaints because complaining is free. I'm sure the me-too art sites would like to operate in a stable way, but if they get more users and can't sustain the load, history can repeat.
