September/October Theme Challenge: Reflections
10 years ago
yarrick here,First off, thanks to everyone who gave feedback and suggestions on the last Journal. Again- what we are doing right now is just to start things going again; it can always evolve into something more later.
For right now let's start a Theme Challenge, shall we? This is non-competitive activity that encourages creativity. Constructive comments on the entries are accepted and strongly encouraged.
Did you like the photo? Did you think the photographer could have done something differently to change the shot? What does the photo say to you? Those sort of critiques and questions to Ask.
hidalgo and I have decided that the first theme is to be Reflections. In the future, we might look into some way of doing a vote for the next theme but I want fresh content up. We both thought this gave an opportunity to dip into the abstract and alter perception of reality, which is fun to do. Everyone has access to a reflective surface; whether that be a mirror, lake, puddle, window or a shiny counter-top.
Submitted photos should include a Reflection as one of the main focuses of the shot. In order for a reflection to work however there has to be other subjects in the reflection such as people, animals, boats, clouds, lights, etc.
Rules of how to enter: PM the
photografurs account with a link to your entry. It can be a submission from another online hosting site (DA, Photobucket, flickr, dropbox, etc) or a FA submission. If this is a FA submission please mention in the original submission info or title that you have allowed the Photografurs group to use this photo. Think of it like a commission, since this is how FA's current content rules work. Put the name of the group in the title or even use the icon somewhere in the description will suffice.
Any photo you submit to us we will not alter, unless we need to resize it to meet FA's uploading standards (under 1280 x X). Personal Watermarks are perfectly acceptable. We will put a link to your FA in the comments of the submission to give you credit for your work. I'll be adding my submission for the theme challenge shortly so people have an idea of how it will be uploaded. Both Hidalgo and I will be checking the group on a regular basis and uploading the theme challenge entries as we see them!
Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

I may open it up to more then one submission, and if I do I'll let you know. For now I'm going to make sure everyone has a chance to have a photo up first before telling people "okay, feel free to submit more" If that happens, I'll edit the journal and the info on the front page. Stay Tuned
