A solution I know of is to re-post the story in the author comments section with the bbc formatting done, but that doesn't help with an attractive font or changing the font size.

Aye, I have seen people do that, but I don't think writers should have to be forced to do that just to have a format showing.

Actually  OokamKasumi does it for all of her tutorials, which she uploads as .pdfs most of the time.

To be honest I think using .doc or .rtf files does give use writers a slight amount of protection against plagiarism here as by downloading it, the reader has to put the original copy on their disc drive. If it were possible I would actually prefer using .pdf files as acrobat makes it possible to disable copy/paste completely. I've uploaded word documents for the most part so far and yeah it's a pain in the arse to download them, but they still get read. txt format is not as versatile in keeping the writer's style in place (which is critical in some poetry) as word and acrobat so it's no surprise that i come across .doc or .rtf files more often than not.

And I was being nice when I left my original reply. But the bare bones fact is I think your story sucked ass and I'm not even sure why you even call yourself "a writer." Now, to answer the original question: I use the plain text format because I know that I rarely download anything from FA and I find it easier for my readers to look at it directly from the site itself. I get around the italics issue in other ways. One of them is using the "-" symbol. For example: "He - said what - about Tiuthal?"

Granted, it isn't as pretty as italics, but it gets the job done.

On a further aside note: "Blah, blah, blah. Please don't get into arguments with other FA writers. It isn't welcome nor pleasant to see such a thing. Please use respect, etc."

As far as I'm concerned, Tiuthal doesn't deserve my respect until she (he?) changes her (his?) attitude.

personally i would use an upload style like fanart central, where you make the story then add to that story chapter by chapter over time. its alot easier to use and more conveniant to read

I'm no coder, or know anything relatively close to that for the matter, but you have to keep in mind that recoding the story submissions might not be so easy. I'm fine and content with .txt, however limited, and I'd prefer .docs to be allowed, but it's ultimately up to the coders and administration of FA.
