Rollplay, Roleplay #TABLETOP RPG SESSION GROUP COM HUB#
9 years ago
Friends and watchers,
As promised and while I'm awaiting feedback on the latest XCOM chapter, I wanted to go ahead and formally organise 'Rollplay, Roleplay', which I'm hoping will prove to be an entertaining group project to take part in! The six places for a party of players have already been filled by those who expressed interest in the previous interest gauging journal, so this is mainly for those participating to share details and what they hope to get out of the commission. If all goes well and as planned, will certainly be doing one of these again! Perhaps next time with a sci-fi setting. Who knows?
So yes, in Rollplay, Roleplay, it is I, Jinx Curi, who will be 'DM-ing' the session. As I stated, this will be very much a tongue-in-cheek type of story, with lots of affectionate prodding at tabletop gaming and fantasy tropes, which by now many of you have realised I enjoy doing, and also that there will be 'real world' and 'fantasy world' scene changes. One thing I wanted to state too is that the in-story tabletop game, 'Catacombs and Cacodemons', that your 'sonas and OC's will be playing will be loosely inspired by D&D, and not actual D&D rules. Actual game rules will only feature peripherally or as the subject of humour, dramatic tension, and characterisation. So you don't have to worry when you consider what class your 'sona will be that it'll be useful or consider skill builds or anything like that.
What I'd like those participating to do now is answer two questions and comment below.
1) Which adventurer class / archetype would you like to be? It doesn't have to be strictly a D&D one, and I'd like you to consider too the potential for drama, humour, and character moments rather than from an instinctual gameplay sense. If you have a favourite one though, please feel free to nominate it.
2) Would you prefer it to be a 'furry version' of the game, so your sona will be playing fantasy versions of themselves (e.g. wolf paladin, fennec thief, foxtaur mage), or playing familiar fantasy races (elf, dwarf, and so on.) Personally, I'm leaning towards incorporating sona's as the adventurers too, but I will abide by popular choice.
With the adventurer class choices, there are already a couple of pre-existing caveats. The classic fireball-throwing, spell book-wielding mage position in the party has already been claimed. Same with the classic sneaky thief. But, there's so pleeeeenty of other choices to go for. As I said, feel free to just make one up too.
Okay, now onto the cost of participation, I can see this stretching for a good three of my regular 2000 word chapters, so dividing that up fairly, the cost will be $10 each. Chances are though I'll let it run longer than that to make it a satisfying experience and include everything I want to. As you can imagine, there'll be a LOT of back and forth character dialogue and interaction, so pretty much every other paragraph will feature at least one character, so there's a lot of bang for your buck here. You can make payment to jinxcuri@gmail.com, as usual. When payment has been made, comment below too to let me know who has.
Oh, and for those who were interested in the scifi drop pod assault group comm, worry not, I'll be looking at that next within the new couple of weeks or so.
So yeah, let's hash out the deets on rollplay, roleplay!
Just to confirm, the six places are just reserved for those that pledged previous interest, not filled by someone else since then.

But yes, this is certainly something I'm interested in. Despite his tendency to get in certain... scenarios, Rahka is also a combatant. More of the agile "bladedancer" type than the more brutish "barbarian"/"fighter" type.
Is there still room to join? I'm definitely still interested!
Rawrr wepunz!
I'll send payment when I get home todya.
And I think that 'wandering noble' or a 'noble duellist' would do just fine as an archetype. :3
