Tarpaw Furmeet is an event happening November 5 that if successful will be used to start a convention here in North Carolina. Tickets are only $20, which includes pizza and soda. Buy your ticket today!!
Event Info:
Date: Saturday, November 5, 2016
Time: 6pm-11:30pm
Location: Raleigh Elks' Lodge (5338 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC 27612, at the corner of Lead Mine Road and W. Millbrook Road)
Age: 18 and over. 21 to drink.
Admission: $20 in advance, $25 at the door
DJ from 7pm-11:30pm
Bartender on duty from 7pm-11pm
Food and non-alcoholic beverages allowed.
Outside alcoholic beverages: prohibited
Pizza and drinks will be provided, but potlucking is welcome too. Bring a favorite dessert to share!
Fursuit headless area (water and fans) provided for changing, but please be considerate and make sure others can use the area too.

Kinda up setting that is 18+ though. I think you would get more people to come if it was all ages.

Mostly as there will be an open bar, there are concerns if minors are allowed, I think.

I mean you could check an ID or have it manditory that the minors parents be there. Or all minors where a wrist band? There's a couple of different ways to make it work.

Hopefully they account for that if it is success for enough for a second year. You also have to handle parental permission for minors, at least for conventions. Will have to see how it gets addressed next year if at all.
i definitely agree that the 18+ part sort of makes it... eh. it's certainly safer to have adults only with an open bar, and that makes sense with a smaller event, but the turnout of such a thing isn't going to reflect how many people would come to an actual convention. there are tons of furs here that are minors, and kids in general like fursuits. i'm 17, and if i'm honest, the initial event being 18+ sort of turns me off of wanting to go to the potential convention (even though i've been wishing for a con here for FOREVER) because it makes me feel like it's going to be an adult-oriented environment, even if i'll be 18 by the time it rolls around.

Wish it was further west. There are alot of furs from the upstate of SC and Charlotte NC. Its 5 hours to Raleigh for me. Too far sadly.
