So, this is kinda short notice, but when I got home from work on Sunday my main pc monitor decided it was going to fall on its own sword... I don't know how or why, but its dying, and its just been getting worse every day since then. </3
I've never seen anything like it really. Its kind of hard to describe. All the colors have shifted as if the video signal is corrupted or something. it looks awful and I can hardly make anything out on it. its so bad. However it has nothing to do with my video card its just the monitor itself acting weird. (it does it while its not even plugged into my computer) Some times its just fine, but more and more often it just looks weird and I can hardly see anything on it some times..
I'm not sure how well you can see how messed up it is, but this is what it looks like.. >> https://puu.sh/ycVjZ.jpg << >> https://puu.sh/ycWJg.jpg << Like, how the fluff am I supposed to read that? D: Believe it or not it does actually look worse in person too. >.<
Well, anyway. not to make this super long, but the reason for writing this.. as you can see, unexpectedly I'm needing to buy/acquire a new monitor. I cant stand not having two, so I want to get a new one. The thing is, six months ago I quit my job and moved and have had a part time job since then and now I'm going back to school and having to pay for it and warehouse storage space to hold the stuff from my old house while I stay with my grand parents while I go to school. So, I figured since spending monies on something sort of expensiveish isn't probably the best idea if I can avoid it, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to maybe open up for commissions/ donations.
The thing is, I unno who would actually be interested in wanting commissions in like the $20-$60+ monies range. I feel kinda bad for asking that much but the goal is to get a new monitor relatively as soon as possible. I'm slowly going insane from staring at this one </3
The only problem is between work on the weekends and evening school mon-thurs every week, I wont really have a lot of time to work on things. I know I can still do it, but it might possibly take a little while. Not too long though.
I just gotta make time for it. Believe it or not, I have actually been doodling every day for the past six months, I just don't post it cause its personal stuff, So it's not like I'm out of practice or anything. ;3
I'm sorry for making this so long, I always try not to but end up doing it anyway.
so TL;DR I'm thinking about about opening up for commissions to help pay for a new monitor for my main pc. It's nearly ded. Rip.
If you're interested, comment or note me. If It gets enough attention, I'll make another journal about commission infos. but for now you can send me a note or in the comments let me know what you think I should do. I'll also take suggestions for decent monitors if anyone knows anything about them. I want something good but I don't want to pay a bunch. >.<
Thanks for reading<3

Don't feel bad about charging your rates. Your work is easily worth it, and I think there will be more than one person wishing for some Ami art.
As to your problem, if you owned an old-school CRT monitor, your problem would be described as one or more of the 3 color "guns" within it dying, which would be a death sentence for it, but I've never seen the same thing in a newer flat panel. huh.
I usually get lucky when I need something from our surplus 'cause their internal policy is to replace equipment every three years. Usually a monitor has a longer shelf life than that.
But first you have to decide what you want. Resolution, refresh rate, colour depth and of course, size.
I just bought a new monitor a couple of months ago. I knew roughly the minimum size and quality I wanted, and I kept combing the various computer shops and ebay online. Google shopping is also good - you can enter the model number and find a range of stores that sell it at different prices. If you can find one nearby, you can save money by picking it up instead of having it delivered.
I wanted something larger than 27" with a resolution greater than 1920 x 1080, because those were the specs of my old monitor. One day I was searching eBay, and Samsung had just released their latest quantum dot monitor at the same time a local store was offering a 20% coupon discount. So I ended up with a 32" much better monitor than I had expected to get, considering my finances.
Basically I set a minimum standard and kept looking until I found a bargain.
I recommend doing a google search for reviews of a monitor (or any other product) before you buy it - and a google shopping search and eBay search to find the best deal.
