Post “A Cage called home” wrap up AMA and general discus

Okay so many things to say in this journal, and I’m not sure anyone will see this, but first off if you have any questions just go ahead and ask it even if this journal is dead, if I see it I’ll try my best to answer.
Secondly I’d like to thank everyone who’s made it this far, I had no delusions about how niche the thing I was making was, I can’t tell how happy I am for each person who read it all the way through. Also a special thanks to Eldra who helped me proofread the comic and provided support along the way.
Lastly as teased in the final page there will be a sequel to this which will close the book on The Cage, I hope to be able to get it out in a few months and I’ve already made great progress on it. It follows the hunt for the most dangerous breed of afflicted through the cramped shadowed corners of The Cage, and I am seriously super excited and hyped up for it.
This is seriously one of the most strange and exciting things I’ve done in my life, and I’m glad to have all of you along for the ride.

Biggest gripe I have concerns the flow of the comic. While it started out at a comfortable pace, it never managed to shake off the feeling of "introductory exposition". While I do understand there has to be some setup for future iterations to build on and keep a sense of mystery, there simply were too many concepts namedropped in succession. That at times turned legitimate curiosity into "I have no idea what this even implies" for me.
Also, events transpired a bit too quickly with fairly sudden jumps back and forth between groups of characters, towards the end especially.
Aside from that, I'd like to see more of Terrax's family and learn about his relationship with Banne. Exactly how do they know each other, is it more complex than a simple old friendship, what's Banne's family like, where did Ren come from, how deep is Terrax's connection with his wife and Ren truly, etc..
One thing you nailed in my opinion is the color palette. I'm not an artist so I lack the vocabulary to explain what it is that makes the colors pleasant to look at, but they are. That and I like your overall style. Characters have clearly defined outlines and sharp corners/edges.
So yeah, I'd read a follow up if you made one. Seeing the more "cramped, shadowed corners of The Cage" sounds pretty cool.
As for the flow I definitely noticed that, and I can see so clearly how it was so symptomatic from how the comic was made with not having much planning, having to be patched up at the end, a constantly changing story/tone. It's my first real brush with writing and it reads like it, but I feel like I'm getting a hang of it more for the sequel.
