first off,
as of today, there are only 22 days left to submit to the contest! So i included the rules at the bottom of this journal entry, along with the currnet entries.

Can anyone PLEASE HELP ME GET THE HOMEBREW CHANNEL FOR WII?!?!

this time this contest is exluseve to the staff of lamplight labs!
it is to find out who is the lamplight labs employee of the YEAR!!!
the rules are as follows:
only lamplight labs staff may enter, you need to draw a image about how things are going in your lab, like for example,
thegrape would draw himself macro since he works in genetics growht controled, or 
tendo would draw himself inflating since he is in inflation studeis and so on
you may inculde draco in the drawing, or some one else from your department, but THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THAT PERSON WILL HAVE A ENTRY IN THE CONTEST. No free rides here people, you have to earn that title XD
also, the art should be clean, pg, and such.
now the prizes
1st prize: the covented empolye of the year title (untill 2010 comes) and a story and comic request from me
2nd prize: you get to be in the story with the empolye of the year and a request drawing
3rd: you get a request
4rth, you get a sketch
5, you get a pie :3 (heh heh)
also the contest will run untill November 1 and voteing will only go on untill November 25th since that is the day i joined :3
now go out there fellow lamplight staff and be...

i reformated the card like it said to
i downloaded the hiihacker thing, and copyied its boot.jef
i downloaded the bannerbomb, all versions i tired! wtf does save to sd card root mean?
i put my wii on the channel area, and had it in the sd section
and nothing happend >.<
So if it asks: "Place the boot.elf file on the root of the sd card" you should place the file: "boot.elf" on G:\ (if G:\ is your sd card)
However, if it asks you to put a 'map' on the root then just place the map on G:\ (or as whatever drive your SD card appears on)
Also, you musn't try to access the SD directly from the Wii-menu. (atleast when I installed the Homebrew Channel)
Instead you should go to the option menu of the Wii (with your SD card inserted into the system) and select the Saved Data section. If I'm correct the Wii comes with a pop-up asking you if you'd like to run the "boot.elf" or "boot.dol" file.
Select "Yes" and it'll take you to an MS-Dos environment where you can select the option to install the HBC. Do this and select "exit" after you're done. =3
The Wii will restart or you'll have to do it manually (by holding the Wii's power button for 4 seconds and turn it on after it has closed down). Now you will have the Homebrew Channel as an extra channel added to your Wii Menu! =3
Now every emulator or homebrew software you downloaded and put in the "apps" directory on your SD can be acessed via the Homebrew Channel. ^_^
So I had to use a different method to install the HBC!
It adds new things to your system, updates the shopping channel, fixes exploits and more.
If you recently updated your firmware, you should have 4.2 for example.
So installing the HomeBrew channel using the Twilight Hack doesn't work anymore. ^_^
(it only works on versions 1.0 to 3.9 if I'm correct.)
For each new Firmware that comes out, a different method has to be used in order to install not-so-legal software on your Wii system.
BannerBomb was a trick to install the Homebrew Channel under Firmware 4.0 and 4.1.
It wouldn't work on 4.2 for example since Nintendo fixed that exploit. =3
(an exploit is in plain english: a gap in a piece of code of a game or program that allows you to do things you normally shouldn't be able to do! ^^
This is what some people try to find so that they can run all sorts of data, which eventually leads to an installer for the Homebrew Channel.)
Instead, insert the SD into your Wii, Turn it on, in the menu go to the Wii's options and select the "Saved data" section, then select to manage your SD card and a message should pop up saying: "Would you like to run boot.dol?" or something in that sense... select Yes and you should go to an MS-dos -like environment.
From there, install the HomeBrew channel and DVDx (if you want) and select "exit" after you're done.
Then the Wii will restart. (if it doesn't and it freezes, closes down and\or etc, then turn it back on or hold the Power button for 4 seconds to completely turn it off and turn it on afterwards)
When you turn on the Wii, the homebrew channel should be somewhere along the other channels (usually the most right one).
With some programs in the "apps" directory on your SD card, you can now access them by launching the HBC and select some of the Homebrew software you put in there! =3
(like Emulators for example.)
But it work now, right!? =3
I'd suggest looking up a video for installing the HBC on youtube then! ^^;
