I have a feeling that Shard tends to take some things literally one doesn't really mean to be taken so. and she also has the impish expression of a genie, content to exploit every nook and cranny in the 'masters' wish description to it's fullest. something akin to a lawful-evil devil...

and in the end, asking "what could go wrong" is like asking for everythign to go wrong.

All of that is a pretty accurate assessment of Shard's character! Poor Danielle has a bit of a tiger by the tail here; she's in over her head, and knows it. What could go wrong? Wth Shard involved? A lot.

I must read the rwest of the series, but I fear I haven't got the time until Eurofurence is over. :) but all of it looks very promising. :)
