Haha! I tried playing around with background colors for ages - Likeshine was sweet enough to let me have the PSD in all its layered glory - trying to get a shade of red that worked. Everything came off too dark and overwhelmed the reference details, so eventually I grew desperate and tried pink. And crazy enough, I'm totally happy with how it turned out. I realized afterward that Jailbird use a nearly identical shade for the "secretary" art she did for me, too - apparently white, black, and pink work! Who would have figured?
