Finally got this done. In panel one and two, they're supposed to be on a train riding back to school. It isn't obvious so decided to mention it. Hey, look who's made a reappearance.

Yes, that's exactly what it says! I'm no linguist, but I wanted their language to look different. It's just sort of a mishmash of Greek letters, modern US alphabet, and a few I made up. And it's completely phonetic(that's the way I learned to read so it makes the most sense to me), you just put the letters together to make the sounds and words you want. I wish I was better at this sort of thing, I've seen people do some pretty cool shit with made up languages.
I thought this was a cute touch too. I've played around with alternate alphabets, alien alphabets, and artificial languages for a while now -- haven't done anything nearly as impressive as some 'conlangers' out there.
One of my old mainstays, 'Ghaaunthonian Standard', also has a script system. I used to know it by heart but haven't used it in a while.
A current ambitious project I've worked on now and then is an entirely pictographic language (like Chinese) called 'Ancient Draconic'. The language itself I kinda swiped from a D&D manual however I've been expanding it because it's missing some really important words -- for instance a word for 'breath weapon'. My added word is 'halavent' which is a variation of an already established word 'svent' (arrow).
BTW .. long time fan of the comic here.

I like the idea of a pictographic language, especially in a world of mulitspecies intelligent animals. As they evolved, all of them would have had different abilities of vocalization, so a pictographic language would have made more sense. Glad you're enjoying the comic, cute icon too. ^.^
Yessir, Chucky's dad is a brewer. I don't have the page posted here because I wasn't on FA yet, but here's where it's referenced first.
