maybe not in the U.S., but one of the snipers in Israel during the '40s later became fsamous with her third husband's surname of Westheimer. Dr. Ruth was a sniper with the israeli army over sixty years ago. I'm too lazy to check, it mentions it on her wikipedia page. and plenty of women dressed like men just to get overseas with a gun to kill enemies. Mulan and Joan of Arc are just the famous ones.
You know, this was originally posted two years ago or so, but Women served in all sorts of rolls in both the British and American services in WWII. Not only that, they saw combat in the Russian military, and one of Russia's best snipers was a woman! They weren't just nurses and tea fetchers, either. In fact, in Britain, many of the 'Home Chain' stations were 'manned' by women. This was the RADAR systems set up to detect the incoming German bombers and to scramble fighters to intercept them and shoot them down.
In the U.S., actress Greta Garbo was also responsible for the co-design of the first acoustic homing torpedo! So, don't sell women in the military short, they have a rather fantastic history that should be shared.

Enjoying the comic so far. Curious to see where it goes. Also, just to be that guy (and since I'm slightly OCD), hats (covers) aren't worn indoors. Figure its fictional military though, given they've all got different style uniforms and one has earrings and longer hair. Don't know if anyone's pointed it out. I didn't want to point it out, but that little monkey on my shoulder was like 'dooooo iiiiiiiittttt'.
Fast forward two years: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19978974/ No, I didn't see your post until after I had written and posted the story.
