Well, I know a thing or two about being a jerk...
I feel like a lot of people probably prefer Officer Judy, but you are all objectively wrong. Plain-clothes Judy is best Judy.
Another Zootopia study, this time on completely normal watercolour paper using acrylic paints. Also the first study I think I'm actually rather pleased with! The background is still pretty garbo-tier- that blurry, out-of-focus look is very tricky with acrylic paints. But the hoppster herself came out half decent, if I do say so myself. Not perfect, the structure of her face isn't at all an exact match for the scene from the movie, but not terrible neither.
Not the most exciting scene I know, they've all been fairly boring, but I have some good excuses I think. Firstly, I'm looking for relatively simple scenes to paint without a huge reliance on background because I'm still figuring out how to make these paints tick. Secondly, any movement-heavy scene tends to look pretty terrible if you just pause it in the middle of a motion, so the scenes where the characters come closest to standing still tend to look best as a direct copy. Put those factors together and most of the time what you get is a closeup shot of a character's face. :P
Despite not being the most interesting of scenes, I hope some of y'all enjoy. Do let me know what you think!
As always, Disney owns everything, including our souls. I'm just studying their work.

Maybe it's because I'm just not into uniforms to begin with, but the plain clothes outfits are so much cuter!
To be honest, I do worry a bit about bothering my watchers- for around a decade now I swore rather strongly against fanart, so my entire fanbase was built on original characters, mine and those of the people who commission me. Now I'm suddenly dumping fanart on their heads and I wonder if it's not going to drive some people away... but I probably won't let that stop me, it seems to be really good practice so I guess that's the most important thing.

I generally don't get caught up in trendy fan-art because I don't see the appeal of doing something that everyone else is doing. Which isn't to crap on people do want to draw Judy, I just sort of feel like you get lost in the shuffle that way. There's nothing relevant I can add to it, that's my attitude.
In any case, I think you're too popular of an artist for your watchers to get turned off of you, unless you really overdo it. There's an added sense credibility to whatever it is that you do, at least, that's my interpretation of human nature.

Such amazing work from you!
On the note of fan-art, if someone really does enjoy your work they will continue to watch you regardless of whether you sometimes post something they wouldn't like.
I HATE mlp related content but I still watch people that occasionally post the garbage because their art is simply too amazing not to enjoy regardless of the subject.
I know I'm not alone when it comes to this and I'm sure people that truly appreciate your work will stick around.
With all of those pixels created I'm just here to kiss your ass again.
I love everything about this and I encourage you draw more if you wish!

Farm girl clothes I feel are in and of themselves better than police uniforms. The fact that she's so sincerely humbled and grown as a person during the latter half when she's wearing it definitely helps generate appreciation for the outfit through association.
This is an exceptional rendition, by the way. Very impressive.

I'm always happy to see work from you, especially when you're trying something new. This is just stunning piece of work, the colors and everything really brings it to life. I know you're your own worst critic but this is seriously good work and you should be proud of yourself, Ru.
Yeah, I gotta go with humble Judy too. It's funny, I adore the movie completely but not really so much for the characters. Except maybe for Mrs Otterton, who was freakin adorable for what little screentime she had. But this is a bit off-topic. You might not have made a perfect carbon copy of the screencap but you definitely got the character's essence, which I think ultimately is more important than being a Xerox machine. Must feel pretty good to be able to get deeper contrast too. Next challenge: Noir! And come to think of it, you wouldn't even have to leave Zootopia fanart behind to play with the hardboiled detective schtick.
As master of all things bunny, I do have to agree. Plain clothes Judy is a darn good thing. That hat is just flippin adorable.
Also.. you're killing me with all these supremely amazing and adorable Zootopia pictures. And goodness they are just.. stunningly beautiful! Well done Ru-butt!

Okay, you know you're pretty freakin' good at what you do when people have to do a screencap double-take on your art, even if it isn't a 100% match. I love how you've managed to capture the expression here! You've been amazing with faces for quite some time now, but lately your character's eyes seem to be more vivid.
Please, do continue to experiment and screw around!

The scene you depicted may not be one of the most exciting ones from the film but it is one of the most insightful and repetitive in the film. As for the rendering of Judy not being exactly as in the film. GOOD, that makes this your version and makes her your own.
Thats the long way of me saying I love this work for all it is and says.

I'm all for creative expression when attempting to make something artful, but this was just a study- it was supposed to be as close as possible to the original for practice purposes. But, if you like it than that's really the most important thing I guess. :P Thanks a bunch man!
