Next week is the SIVADS OF MARCH event commerrating SIVAD, the Monster of Ceremonies of Channel 13's FANTASTIC FEATURES that ran from 1962 to 1972 on Memphis TV. I'm included as I will be delivering a speech that Thursday night at the Brooks Art Gallery on Sivad, as well as receiving an award for being a horror movie host in the 1970's, COUNT BASIL on TV in Jackson Tennessee. So last week I made up again as Basil for a publicity photo. I asked SFA art director Shane Fisher to take the black and white photo and dummy it up as a Giveaway shot should Channel 6 have spent the money to do so. The monster in the lower left corner was my mute straight man ZACK, played usually by a cameraman wearing a green rubber mask (available from FAMOUS MONSTERS) There's an online article about the show here:
http://www.chillercinema.com/CountBasil.html Mike McCarthy recently asked me if I would be the Count that Thursday night as well as the show Saturday. I imagine they need a monster for photos that night. So I gladly said yes. I am very looking forward to this but the whole thing came out of the blue, as I assumed that TV show was long gone and forgotten. The attendees that night will also receive a 92 page book on Sivad with artifacts and articles by yours truly as well as a 4 page article on the Count himself.
