Notes to those unfamiliar with SHANDA (G)
I've got to get with Mitch and learn how to post those pages, and when I do I'll announce it. But first some notes on SHANDA THE PANDA and it's characters for those who haven't read it and those who have.
Most people knew that a LOT of SHANDA was based on my real life adventures as a theater manager. I don't think I've ever told how many of the characters were based on real people. Now I will.
Jan and Keri. Just the names belonged to two female theater managers I knew. Their dad Grove was based on my beloved college art theater
Sissy and Missy actually answered to that. And you would recognize them on sight. Their private lives were pure fiction, except that Sissy really protected Missy from the bad side of life for a long time.
Speedo and Scotty Bob worked at my Conway theater. The names are different, but you would recognize them on sight. Scotty Bob ended up designing hotels for the Disney Corporation.
Yoyo is a combination of two employees. Her appearance came from an employee in Cedar Rapids, the "wild" side of her personality from one in Mississippi. The real Sissy had the same opinion of the real Yoyo.
Lurch worked in New Orleans, and the city manager said one day "Tell that lurch looking fellow to come over here."
Terri and Tanya. Terri worked at the sporting good store next to my New Orleans theater. She dated Tanya who really did mistreat her. I named Tanya Hyde after the monster, not as a pun.
Quamus was actually from Thailand. My favorite story about him is when a customer asked him "What are you?" wondering if he was Chinese or Japanese or what and he replied "I'm human what are you."
Shanda and Double R are both me, and Quinn is my daughter.
Mitch gimme a call and tell me how to upload script pages.
