Now here me out. For one I'm quite happy that Nigel did take not being chosen well like I suggested, and didn't go berserk mode, so good on him for that, with that said, assuming what I theorized would happen, and Nigel's parents treatment of him takes a harsh turn, and he gets pushed to the back, while his younger brother Toby takes his place, wouldn't Nigel have every reason under the sun to greatly loathe and deteste Luna?
I thought that would be the case initially, but the more I thought about it, the more it would make sense that he would come to loathe Luna as well as his parents. Of course I could be wrong about this, but look at like this, Nigel is just a child, and from what we have been shown, he's quite a positive child all things considered, had loving and supportive parents, and wished to make his parents proud and follow in their footsteps.
Now if Luna's decision to not make him a guardian resulted in say, his parents shunning him and pushing him to side-lines, his younger brother now getting all the love and attention he once did, where as he is completely forgotten about, leading to even possibly being disowned and kicked out, with all the good things he once had effectively being taken away from him, I think it's pretty reasonable to say he would have many reasons to loathe his parents because of how they decided to treat him for not succeeding, as well as many reasons to loathe Luna whose decision to not make him a guardian, while having no ill will, and having the best of intentions, resulted in all this happening to him.

Well if the parents go in the same direction with their second son, I'm sure this will lead to the same result as the first.
An it will be them who will have to answer the question "Why do you want to be a gaurdian".
I'm sure Lunas response to their answers will make it clear they've gone astray. That or they will go to the dark side and all that jazz.

I mean, sometimes certain things just need to be said.
The way you do it and your intentions behind it can make the same base message have a vastly different effect/meaning.
Sometimes "better luck next time" is just a hollow sounding stamp at the end of a letter and you feel that. Sometimes it's mocking, haughty and biting. And sometimes it's honest, heartfelt and full of kindness.

So he how does he Become the Worst u likable dude.. or that's what I recall Someone saying is what the author's plan was going be cuase like at this point I can feel and Understand his angery and detest at Luna and the Guardians for what his PROUD family will do to his mental state. But I'm scared what He will do as retailtaion towards them that has me worried it I heard right that he is going be a unlikeable dude.
Man, a lot of you seem to jump to it that the parents are going to take it out on the kid.
Sure the parents look angry but I'd not be surprised if they are angry at Luna.
"How dare she not pick our boy"
"What's wrong with the goddess that she can't see our boy should have been chosen" etc etc.
That's an emotional roller coaster all it's own

I think a lot of people come to that conclusion, because it's been heavily eluded to by Nigel in previous pages. Not only that, it's also been implied that the "Family Traditions" are quite problematic, and Nigel talks like he's been forgotten and discarded in the first page of this chapter. It's also been somewhat foreshadowed that Toby, his younger brother is going to end up getting everything that Nigel once had, where as Nigel, like Toby, is going to end up getting pushed away and neglected, because he didn't get chosen right then and there.
Ah, i know whats missing in him!
He wanted to become a Guardian because his family wanted it, but he needs to change that point of view from "my parents want it" to "I want it because "I" want it, and i want to help people."
And why do i have the feeling that his parents instantly went from: "Our little guardian." to "You're not our son anymore... You're a failure." in less than a second?
