We already know she was five when he started raping her.
So, yeah, there are pretty few ways a five year old girl ends up in the hands of slavers... and murder is pretty much #1.
(Parents selling them into slavery is also there, but ... eugh ... I would like to think Fer wouldn't go there.)

One can only imagine all the horrible things Lamb saw and experienced with tjos slavers. Not only with what happened to her and Lamb's family, but also all the lives that were captured and sold off by those slavers.
Families destroyed, people lied to and then betrayed. And from the sounds of it, while there is a steep punishment for slavers, it sounds like there is demand somewhere for all those lives.

I'm thinking they're more like European city-states of the past. There's like 600 or so per lore, IIRC, with the largest being the size of a small county (100k people or so).
And they don't have to be powerful ... just far enough away that it'd be difficult for other kingdoms to actually do anything.

Very true. I remember a interview in a documentary on the vietnam war. "Alright, so you want to put an outpost somewhere. Well first you'll need temporary structures meaning sappers and engineers. Now you've got a stationary building so you need weapon emplacements, guards, etc. Then you need clear a large enough space to allow choppers to do medivacs and bring supplies. Ten you'll need to protect the perimeter of the outpost since you can't just let them walk up to the front door. So you need vehicles, soldiers, lots of constant supply of ammuntition. Before long your putting an outpost means you end up with a functional base that needs to hold a 5 square mile area staffed with hundreds of soldiers, vehicles and a helepad; just to keep the vietnamese far enough away from the outpost they can't just mortar you to their hearts content."
Back in the walled fortress era you are pretty much limited to how far can your horse travel while laden with supplies for where you can guard. And even then the military was more for protecting the roads than anything else. Step off the well traveled highway into the hillsides and your pretty much on your own.

They did that by raiding as they went though. They pillaged every town and city they came across for supplies, both to do morale damage to the confederates as well as to keep themselves supplied. What soldier is going to stay on the front lines while his family and home is in the area thats being ravaged by Sherman after all? There were a lot of AWOL confederates who went home to protect what is theirs while Sherman did his rampage.
So unless you want your forces to start ransacking your own villages and towns for supplies it's not really an option for defensive purposes; but works fine if you are in enemy territory where its more of a bonus than a detriment to sack the place behind you.

And if there aren't any towns within reasonable distance, you need to forage / hunt. Not to mention bring along the blacksmiths, farriers, leatherworkers, etc, all the necessary things to maintain / repair equipment on a long trek with no supply depots.
Now do that march with no major cities or towns along the way.

I'm also a bit surprised that Fen is extremely sanguine of the side of Morgan that she's seen. I mean, granted, she was enacting vengeance against the person that enslaved and raped her when she was five years old and Fen knows she's very much not the target of Morgan's rage. But Fen also witnessed Morgan personally, intimately, brutally execute someone by stabbing him in the face until he was reduced to chunks while releasing some cathartic choice words.
But then... maybe Fen also knows that at this point, Morgan really needs a hug.

throughout all this ark my head has had DMC5, doom series and GoW music for each page. now we get her backstory and i can't help but think of "Legacy" from DMC5, and i think that's going to be running through my head for the next few panels.
to put it into perspective, rarely does this happen for a few comic panels and you good sir have been keeping it up for a the entire arch..... well played good sir...
