Art Thief Story: Continued From TikTok
General
I had a few people asking details about this story so I'm going to flesh it out slightly more here, 60 seconds on TikTok is not enough.
Long story short, there was another artist here on FA that I followed almost since the beginning. I have since unfollowed them, and will not put their user name down because quite frankly I don't want them to get anymore traffic to their page than they already have.
This user posted that they were fed up with their art style. They didn't like it, it was missing SOMETHING and they felt like this was the key to them becoming a much more successful artist. They made this long post begging other users to give their honest opinion. If there was something genuine she felt could help her, she PROMISED in return to give this artist a shoutout and feature some of their art to boost them.
This artist, last I checked, was tipping just over 26k followers here on FA alone. This person ONLY did adopts and a commission once in a while. I watched them come out with 3 total different outlines over the course of a year, fill different colors, sell them for over $100 a piece easily, and they made a decent living doing so. I am happy they found their niche, and yes this sounds salty...because it is.
They had 26k followers, AND a dream career. And I just so happened to have spotted something about their style that was easy to change and I felt would bring a much-needed lift to their work. Basically, this person colored in nothing but neural earth tones and black. I typed out this huge comment, gave her my entire coloring process.
There were 4 comments total, the other 3 were one-sentence suggestions that were not helpful in my eyes as an artist. So usually I would never accuse another artist of theft, but it was like...OBVIOUS this person took my advice and literally ran with it.
I checked back on the post, no replies. A few hours later, the ENTIRE post is deleted and gone forever. I never got credit, I never got my shout-out. The disturbing part is very quickly after, I noticed a huge change in this artist's color style. IT WAS MY COLORING STYLE 100%.
I went onto their profile, no new journals or posts on their social media. Just a bunch of "OMG, your NEW color style is so goooooooood" and her just all smiles like :D THANKS.
Sorry, saltiness getting to me again.
I have like...28 followers here on FA. I have under 2k on TikTok, I pump work out of my ass as much as possible, and try to help other artists. So...yes I am angry when an an artist whom is making a living takes my advice and then just ghosts me.
In my TikTok I question whether this person might have been worried about me stealing customers? That's the only logic I can think of? Why delete the post? Why act like the convo never took place? I didn't bother writing, because it's easy enough to deny. I didn't take screenshots because I didn't think I would need to.
So, if this person EVER manages to read this post...seriously wtf? Were you worried that I'd jack some of your clients? I don't get it, and frankly don't have the energy to try to understand. Silly me, for thinking someone that is making a living off of this stuff might help a smaller artist out if it actually benefitted this person. Which it did...they are still using my methods and have upped their prices since last checking.
All I ask, is that if you, or anyone you know genuinely likes my content please send them my way. Don't make promises you can't keep, and beyond all else, credit your FUCKING ARTIST!

Good artists copy and great artists steal couldn’t be anymore the truth. If you observe the top artists on FA, their style does get copied by others more than many would think, sometimes to the point where the copycat gets credited as the popular artist on sites that repost art.
Everyone has a different process, I’ve certainly been through dozens of styles and techniques for my entire journey, and just like, last week, I finally landed on a look that I enjoy, is comfortable, and works for me the best.
Everyone’s Journey is different. It’s a matter of time before you and this person grow differently apart, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Though I am sorry, how it shook out is bothersome.
