Differences in male and female art styles
4 years ago
I’ve been thinking just in browsing furry art there does seem to be a common difference between the art styles of men vs women. Although I can’t pinpoint exactly what sets them apart. Such as in looking at a particularly cutesy or “Chibi” type art style there’s a certain difference in that you can point out a piece and immediately think “a man drew that” . Even though there is no explicit stylistic differences.
Some art styles run more androgynous but I’d say 8 times out of 10 my predictions seem to be correct.
I’d put transgender males in a seperate category, as they on their own tend to have a very distinctive way of drawing, seperate from biological men (and women). Have you noticed that? To be fair many do follow somewhat of a similar stylistic trend but even when deviating from that There’s just something immediately recognisable about it.
I don’t see enough trans female artists to be able to notice a common theme with them.
On the far ends of the masculine and feminine scale I don’t really feel it’s something you can imitate without naturally being on these ends. Especially the masculine end, it’s always the most noticeable.
It’s kind of similar to how Russian artists all have a very recognisable look to their art, regardless of their style. I don’t think any other country really has that effect. I wonder about that aswell
Do you notice it aswell? What do you think differentiates it?

There is also style difference between ethnicities. E.g. Russian artists have very different style compared to Chinese artists.
Between the sexes, I’m not so sure.
About Russian uniqueness. I see combination of “poorness of everything” and “coldness”. Just my weird brain tells that. (And i need to point out that its applyes better on less skilled dudes. There is so much russian artist, so sometimes i think its majority on this site. And most famous of theme actually cant be distinct easily from western artist.(like Klongi,Altrico,Reycat and wolfnail, id never ever thinked that any of them live in russia).
But
Actually there are so much artist that prefer vk for sharing their art so id say u seen only tip of the iceberg that called “russian furry art”.
interesting to think how people from different places in the world are influenced by their surroundings even in furry art which is quite detached from reality. I am from rural Australia very different from Russia..lol..and I do tend to take from it I think
But in my style, can you say that it was a girl drawing?:3
Haha I’d say your art gives off a more masculine vibe admittedly , I remember when we first watched eachother on deviantart I assumed you were male
Oh wow - I'm a male and gay!!!XD Ahaha:3 It's norm, previously, always spoke people to me that such drawings and in such a style girls do not draw! Also sometimes I even felt myself like a trans male0.0 But now I'm feminine female. I think some artists can not be identified correctly.. because I recently saw the hetero male draws very sharp and multicolored drawings! I think every artist is unique💜
But about you... heh - I really can't identified you^^" It's unique
