How much new content is enough for a new update?

Heya!
Just asking myself with this thing as I'm mostly bad at deciding when I've added enough content to the "Stuck in a Simulation" game before pushing a new update.
I want to try being more.. fast with the updates.. which prompts me to ask the following question.. which is: How much new content is enough for a new update?
On the first updates, I always followed the general idea of doing whatever was in the TO-DO list.. add some more and then I had a new version ready xD
But now, the list is growing exponentially with new stuff.. which makes it difficult for me to like.. finish it all up in reasonable times.
Another option could be to just release the game as-it-is after a given time.. so like, small updates which may add a lot or not, depending on how much time I had to work on the thing.
Or, well, maybe I could release the game only when I added enough new story.. such as a given amount of new true endings and / or new paths.
What do you think of uh.. this?

I kinda like to do big updates but sometimes that means it can take forever before a new version of the game xD
I gotta maybe find the sweet spot between pfft.
But ultimately, go at your own pace. If you prefer large updates, do large updates! <3
I'll definitely try to do that! Thanks a lot for your opinion :3
If you decided to do that you could just set an expected word count or something for each update: a minimum amount you try to add every month based on what you think you can reasonably manage. then anything past that or any mechanical updates are just icing on the cake and can be done afterward.
Uhuh I could try to stick to that.. I need to test how much stuff I can write / code when I'm not in vacation tho.. buuut yeah, I can totally see how that works pretty well if I manage to remain all in mood to work on the game hehe.
Thanks a lot for your opinion dude :3
and i mean you dont have to have an exact amount. Like you don't HAVE to write a minimum of 10,000 words every month. Just try to set like, a reasonable goal. if you go over it, cool. if you don't quite hit it thats fine you still can post what you've got. the most important thing is consistent updating rather than exactly consistent amount of updated content
especially if you're adding new mechanics. you could end up only writing 3,000 words of new content but if you added a whole new system to the game in the process thats just as big if not bigger of an update than 10,000 of pure written content
But yeah I totally understand, you're right.. I gotta weight the new mechanics as well.. uhm, I gotta maybe try to weight them in hours of work or something like that.
Will definitely try to give myself soft limits while also trying to go for big, meaty updates. I like meaty updates (if I manage in reasonable times) xD
And I mean if that works for you that's fine do it I just recommend not trying too hard to set specific limits if it runs the risk of giving you burn out or making you feel like you're not living up to expectations
And sure, I totally agree and will try to make the limit all soft, just as a personal goal I'd like to reach :3
