Dolphins fans: Star Trek confirmed cetacean ops! xd

In the fandom community there is a good core of fans of dolphins/killer whales and other cetaceans, if someone is also a Sci-Fi fan, could be interesting to know that the season 2 final episode of the animated series "Star Trek Lower Decks" has a nice thing for you...
It's not a surprise that Star Trek (that EVERY furry should know just for the Caitian space at least xd xd) has ever been active in promiting an ecologist approach of the future and cetaceans have been cherished with a peculiar plot of a movie that involved literally going back in time to save the humpback whales from extinction.
However during the 90's there are small dialogue references (and some cool sketches) introducing the concept of "Cetacean ops" INSIDE some Star Trek spaceships, effectively involving dolphins into the crew (as recognized sentient beings) to help navigation.
Now this has been finally put on screen, while the scenes of their appearence include some comic elements it's everything I (and others i read) hoped for:
1) Cetaceans (in this case a pair of Beluga Whales) effectively recognized as ship's crewmembers! With bade and body suit
2) While they are somewhat secluded, they are clearly frequented by multiple crewmembers, reporting gossip. Talking with them and well....
3) ... not usurprising for Lower Decks the pair of Beluga made a couple of fun jokes/teases of quite explicit sexual nature toward one of the most oblivious character of the main cast haha xd xd
Honestly can't wait to see more of this concept even in future Star Trek stories/series! XD

What i am happy LD did it's that as i hoped for they inserted dolphins as full-part members of the starfleet. One could guess that introducing them earlier in TNG could have somewhat downplayed this and made them more like an auxiliar helpful oddity (like in the hints of dialogues we got mostly "let's go to see dolphins", but LD was more "let's go to see dolphins, take a swim with them, spend time with them as fellow crewmembers etc..)
On a practical level, i assume that working to help the ship's navigation system may go on par with the natural tendencies of cetacean (echo-location etc.). If i recall also the Caitian were mentioned to works as language and sound specialists because of their good earing (even if in Lower Decks we have others like T'Ana who picked a different field of study).
