Metroid Pirates: Finished! Mostly.
And now that I look at the title, I probably should have called it "Pirate" singular, but what're you going to do?
A-nyway, it's done and posted! Mostly! There's an epilogue coming, but the wait is a little bit of letting anyone that's been following so far read the last two chapters, and anyone that might catch wind of it catch up. I do also want to apologize to anyone that has maturity filters on, or what have you, as the story went in and out of general and mature a few times. It's only ever for violence, and while not particularly graphic, I preferred to play it safe lest I be smote. If you're someone that missed chapters because of this and enjoyed the story, I encourage you to come back when you're able to look at the mature content, even if you have to wait a few (more?) years for it.
Speaking of years and looking back, I didn't realize I posted the first part of Redux...literally five years ago?! I didn't even plan this, I swear. Maybe the last chapter name is apt to a T...Night owl that I am, I'll be posting the epilogue as soon as I've gotten sleep, since this afternoon it will be five years to the minute that Redux started. A-nd it means I regret not having finished it sooner that much more, considering how long it's taken me.
I do plan on writing more Pirate(s) stories in the future, though I'm also going to see about starting something entirely my own. No guarantees, but the first one may or may not revolve around a few characters familiar to anyone that's finished the Pirates story, but in a high-magic fantasy setting instead of sci-fi future. They'd obviously not be quite the same characters they were in the Metroid universe due to copywrite, though most of them won't go too far from what they are in that universe.
Regardless of the next thing outside of more Metroid Pirates being that, or one of a few other ideas, it may be a long while before I set anything substantive to paper that I want to post up anywhere. One thing I learned after getting most of the way through Metroid Pirates is that it's a lot easier to make adjustments when you realize you forgot or "oopsed" something when you haven't shown it to anyone yet. And yes, there were a number of things that I ended up forgetting along the way that I had to adjust for, though some of those actually altered the story in ways I liked more in the end.
However, don't be too surprised to see short stories now and again in preparation for the Pirates crew's altered debut as I work on building the world they'll be adventuring in. No guarantee on how soon you'll be seeing any of that, either, as there're no leads currently on where I'm starting with it. Considering how much of a roll I'm on though, at least for the moment, you might see them sooner than even I realize!
Either way, thanks to everyone who's come along for the ride, I hope you have enjoyed/will enjoy the last two chapters, and as soon as it's up, the epilogue!
