Retiring Dos...
...for a good while at least.
Ok, this might come as a shock for many, but I have decided to broaden my horizons a bit.
Dos has been my sona since the very begining, when I properly joined the fandom. He was defining me, he WAS me.. maybe even a bit too much.
I have tried on a few occasion to spread my eggs accross several baskets by creating more characters that could fully represent me, but.. these attempts failed, Dos' influence was too great.
This time, I'm really going for it.
It has been a work in progress since late August (2021), building a new character from the ground up, and making sure I feel really invested in him, that I could really feel being him.
And, to make sure that I don't run back to being Dos, the dolphin is going away.
As of November 18th, 2021, He is padding
's T.rex's belly, possibly for good.
Dos might be back one day, but if that happen, it won't be sooner than in 6 months, and probably much later.
I am Solfin'mar now, and very happy to :)
P.S. You may still see future works featuring Dos. There are all projects that got initiated before this event and I'm obviously letting them finish :)
Tasuric renders and animations using my model will not be affected at all. We will keep seeing them.

FA+

In the meanwhile, I am the new super handsome :)
I don't get why so many people feel the need to kill off characters they get tired of using. It's not a big step -- just start doing what you want to do and see what happens.
I want to stop relying on a single sona, and to make sure I am not tempted to overuse him, I need to put Dos aside.
Here is analogy: Say you like have a addiction to chocolate (or anything) and have real trouble stopping yourself from overeating it when a box is in reach.
One efficient way to fight the addiction is to hid the box, or stop buying it altogether.
Just as DrUnevil stated, I have a very strong sentimental link with Dos, and that's the reason it took almost 3 months to actually make the change. I had to transfer a good part of that sentimental attachment over to Sol, through RPs and careful character building.
And yet, you have still decided to kill him off, "possibly for good"
It's fine to have a sentimental link with a character (lord knows I have plenty of those). But there's nothing that says you can't have it for more than one character, or identify with more than one character, or to switch to a different character.
You're speaking to someone who did precisely that. I never killed off, or even officially retired, my original character. I just decided to swap my avatar one day. And nobody said boo about it.
My point being that you're subjecting yourself to a lot of emotional stress unnecessarily. You don't need to kill Dos off -- just swap over to Sol.
So you shouldn't worry too much. I know what I'm doing.
Dos certainly enjoy his rest and his current situation as dino fat.
The account is not linked to a character (despite the matching names), so there is no reason for a new account. My previous journal, my submissions and my friends remain valid. There is no point losing all that.
