JW: Dominion Prologue
I've heard people complaining that the prologue they've released recently is a sign that the Jurassic series of films has taken a further step back from the original movie's message, and that it's a decline in quality overall. I don't really agree with that, because the original movie knew exactly what it was trying to do and be for a very different audience. It was essentially a thriller with the skin of a sci-fi film, and geared that way.
Every movie SINCE has been a more action-forward, excitement-oriented experience, though Jurassic World itself managed to recapture some of the original film's magic. Just because the movie has bombastic action, large set-piece scenes, and "more teeth" doesn't mean it's less entertaining. I think it's mostly nostalgia that has people bothered by the prologue, but I was literally a child when I saw the original, and I can still appreciate the newer films just fine.
Am I concerned about the film? It's probably the last, or next to last, Jurassic film, and I hope they don't piss this opportunity away. Am I still going to watch and enjoy it? Yes, and almost certainly. I just don't think we need accentuate the negative when there's already enough of that in the day-to-day life we live, y'know?
