Festive Rainbow Lighting idea

I've noticed that my favourite scenes to create are ones lit by rainbow-type lighting, like these:

(this one started out as cubes above a mirrored surface. It's amazing how far it's come, and how nice it looks by now)

So, what I'm thinking is another scene like these, but of some kind of tunnel or hallway, lit with Christmas lights instead. Maybe I'll want to fade the colours along the lights, too, in another animated effect.
Which means I need to figure out what the hallway/passage/tunnel/etc looks like, as that will define how the whole effect comes through.
Any ideas? My skills are mostly for hard-surface modelling, and I'm not getting very many ideas just yet.
