EDIT: Thanks everyone for your condolences. Truth be told, though I'm not happy about the development, I didn't cry when I heard the news, whereas my mother and brother did. Our history with my father's side of the family is complicated. Some bad feelings in the past. But we've maintained a mostly civil relationship over the past decade. My father is the one we feel pity for, in truth, as he's suffering the most from this loss. My grandmother was old and had recently come back from ER; she was probably in a great deal of pain. Now her suffering is over and she can rest. But the pain of losing one's parent is something I wouldn't wish on my bitterest enemy.
