Happy New Years! Reflections and Projections!
Hi everyone!! Happy New Year! I hope 2021 treated you kindly, and I hope 2022 treats you even better!
2021 was a fantastic year for me, outside of a few personal issues, I think I had a great year! I finally got out of retail and on course of doing what I've always dreamed of. Working with dogs! I currently work at a doggy daycare, and setting up to start dog training courses so that I may one day be able to train service dogs! I'm so happy about this development because not only am I doing what I love, I have much more time and energy to draw!! Which I also love to do!
In 2021 I rediscovered my love for drawing. I always liked drawing, but due to several stressors, was unable to muster the mental energy required to sit there and put pen to paper.
Part of this is because of the debt I was in to commissioners. I have no intentions to hide that at one point I owed out around $750 to several people for about 2 years due to biting off more than I could chew combined with a tumultuous home life and not being able to afford to refund them. Frankly, I'm surprised there's not an Artist Beware somewhere out there on me because I honestly felt like I deserved it. The stress weighed on me heavily and not a day went by where I wasn't thinking about how I would pay these people back. I must admit for complete transparency, that I did think about deleting my account and running but I like to think I was raised better than that. In 2020, when the US received our stimulus checks it was heaven sent. The very first thing I did when that money hit my account was pay every single person I owed back, which I know sounds pathetic but I'm kind of a broke bitch. I'm much more stable financially now, not by much but a lot more than I was back then. I'm very thankful for everyone who's stuck with me through that whole period.
2020 sucked. I spent a lot of that year RPing pokemon swsh characters on some hole in the wall myspace copycat webbed site lmfao. Not much drawing to be done, even if I could somehow gather the mental energy to be creative, it wasn't much and it was kinda crappy.
But hoo boy, 2021 I went a little nuts. I'm not sure what lit the flame under my ass but I got to WORK. Personal projects, commissions and several, SEVERAL unfinished pieces that may or may not ever see the light of day. I've become kinder to myself in terms of art. I'm no longer holding it to some ridiculous standard in my head and even found fondness for older pieces that I once hated. It's made drawing much more fun and it's exciting whenever I start a new project!
I owe a lot to those who have commissioned me this last year! You've all been so pleasant to work with, and I hope we can collaborate more in the future!
Now, for 2022!
First of all, if things keep going the way they are, I'll be reaching 500 followers this year! Which isn't a lot nowadays but is outrageous for me to think about! I've never had a following come even close to this! Wow! Thank you all so much!!
As for art:
I have a few bigger scale projects in the works! I don't want to say too much as I don't want to jinx myself, but I hope to have a few art sets done this year. I also want to start somewhere with visual storytelling. I have a couple of things in mind, some sfw some more nsfw but I think if I get anything out this year, it will probably be something smaller scale. If you're interested in my strictly sfw pieces, please feel free to follow my tumblr: itsozzybby ! I currently don't wish to post to twitter but I am considering insta. I'm also hoping to dabble in animation a bit more as I loved it when I did it a few years ago.
As for commissions:
I hope to have my Carrd up and running sometime in the next few months! With it, some price raises, but also several styles to choose from!
Commission types I'll be offering:
Sketches: The same as they are now tbh. A very slightly higher price than now but still my most affordable option.
Wing its: These will be the more affordable option for a fully realized piece, drawn in a style as I see fit. Kinda like what I do now, but with fewer updates. There will be 2 initial updates, being the sketch and the line work. And more updates if I need to ask something.
Watercolor-esque? Idk what to call these lol: Lined with a sumi brush, colored with a watercolor brush. Shading and colors are a little looser, the subject looks much more simple. A soft, more natural looking and affordable piece such as [ 1 ] [ 2 ]
Hard/Soft shading: My more "normal" style such as : [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ]
Painterly: Slightly more expensive than hard/soft shading but right what it says on the tag. A much more painterly looking piece such as: [ 1 ]
Stippled shading: On the higher end of the spectrum, still working on current examples but here are a few older ones: [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ]
Small scale comics: No more than 4-5 panels, 2 panels are included in the initial price and will be charged per panel after.
Papercraft: On the higher end of the spectrum, a lot of time and RAM are poured into these pieces but the outcome is so, so worth it: [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ]
Whew! Welp, that's about all she wrote! Thanks again everyone for all the support! Stay safe out there fur friends!
