!!!STEAM ACCOUNT HACKED!!!

General
If anyone received a message from me on Steam in the last hours, that was not me, my account had been hacked.
It should be resolved now, I've changed the password and - thanks to Steam Guard - it doesn't appear that anything further happened to the account, but just to make it clear (and to be safe), if you receive a message from me through Steam, always contact me somewhere else (like here on FA), to make sure that it's actually me and that my account hadn't been hacked!
I basically never contact anyone and unless I'm being asked to, I do not send out any links to other sites, so if you receive a message from me that contains any links to external sites, DO NOT FOLLOW ANY LINKS!!! Contact me somewhere else to notify me, so that I can take all necessary steps to stop the hackers from using my account as fast as possible!
If you did reply to any recent messages from me and followed any links posted, immediately make sure to take all necessary precautions to make sure that your account is safe!!!

Because I logged in through that site as well, thinking that everything's in order, but they apparently could access my account and use it to message others in my friends list... also, you (as well as several others, including the one who I received the initial message from) were removed from my friends list, which might've been the hacker, in order to make it harder to track them.
Though one way to see if your account is/was affected by them, would be your block list, if there're people blocked and/or removed from your friends list. I mean, I never blocked anyone, so I know that the 10 blocked people on my account were either hacked, noticed that it was a hacker or didn't reply to the message of the hacker...
They all contain malicious links, which can compromise your online security. I have gotten dozens of these and I just block them all immediately. I am not surprised that they are targeting gaming platforms like Steam and many others. People best protect themselves against these scams. Hopefully you do not have to go through this again.
I just clear them and block them. No need to track, there's too many of them to track. Just remember and learn to identify types of scams. Then block/delete any that attempt to contact you.
As for the case with Discord and messengers. I haven't encountered or dealt with this yet. But yes I would recommend to document malicious accounts on those. To then warn other people to watch out for them.
If someone tried to trick me in the same way again, I'd rather take note of the account that has sent me the message and try to contact its rightful owner, since they likely aren't aware that they've been hacked and that their account is being used/has been used to try and get access to even more accounts... which is exactly what two other people had done in this case, one through Discord and one here, through FA.
As for other types of scams. I just block, delete, ignore, remove them. The most annoying type of scam is the phone calls. At times they just bombard you with so many that it gets annoying. There was a time where I would get 20 scam calls a day. It was annoying, but what can you do? They are getting more persistent.
The most known scam is the Canada Revenue Agency scam, where scammers pretend to be the CRA. This is to try trick you into giving your Social Insurance Number, so they can do all kinds of things to you. Other scams are boarder agency scams and the like. These scams threaten to take legal action against you and to press one to speak with a officer now. Basically they call you, leave you a scary message and tell you to get back to them. The goal of the scam is so the target gets tricked into giving away sensitive information. To which then scammers use to take out loans under your name and rob you of everything you have.
