Brad Colbow reviews 20 Art apps
In my search for a new pen tablet, I ran across Brad Colbow’s site. He reviews screen tablets and pen tablets. But because he is a working illustrator, he uses a lot of drawing software or art software for various platforms. This is his review of 20 common art programs for desktops, iPads, Android, and even a couple for Linux. I thought I would share this as his reviews are very concise. You can see if he agrees with you, or that he reviews an app that you might be curious about. Take a look below
Finally got through it and I will say it is a very useful/helpful presentation. I appreciate his mention of which ones are free and which platforms they're on. There were some I hadn't heard of on the list.
Personally, I do photo manipulation in Paint-dot-net because it is intuitive, is free and there are all manner of plugins to do virtually anything I need to. I strongly advise anyone reading this to download it from the linked site, not from anyone demanding payment and definitely not from purchasing it on the Windows Store. Support is a nightmare and many plugins won't work properly because of the stink of Microsoft.
One of the things mentioned frequently in Colbow's review video was whether an app was "fun to use". I don't know necessarily if my preferred apps are "fun" to use, but I can definitely tell when something is Not Fun and GIMP 100% was Not Fun. :)
