I never really got into the 'Gigantic Monster' films/stories (Which is a strange thing to admit, considering all the amazing B/W gigantic spiders/ants films I watched as a child (And scared the SHIT outta me!)). So, I really don't know anything about this genre/history.
However, seeing the 'Godzilla' movie (With Mathew Broderick)? THAT I absolutely adored!

Been keeping an eye on these, ever since. Still.... meh?...

HOPING another 'G' movie will capture my attention and appreciation, and that this one might be it?

I saw it last night and I had a great time. It was all in all a very enjoyable movie. Having human protagonists that one can care about combined with an incarnation of Godzilla that is an absolute monster, it hit all of the right notes.

I highly recommend seeing the Japanese language version.

It is a great re-imagining of the original '54 Godzilla, with Big G as the avatar of atomic terror.

I'm sooooo looking forward to seeing Godzilla -1. Grew up with Godzilla flicks from the original to just before the 90's... I enjoyed them all, except for the abomination of the US Godzilla in '99, that WAS a waste of film in my opinion. Took my son to see that, and thought it was great... until I took him to see Godzilla 2000... At that point he then agreed that the Godzilla '99 pic sucked!

Hopefully it’s as good as Shin Godzilla was. That was the best Godzilla movie I saw in decades.
