The Underarm Incident, 1981 -- Australia (Yellow/Green) vs. New Zealand (Tan) One-Day International Cricket
I've watched some pretty awful stuff in sports over the years,
but this was one of the most craven, heinous examples of ill sportsmanship I've ever seen.
The TV commentator Richie Benaud's reaction at the end is glorious, as was the Australian wicket-keeper protesting his captain's decision, then making a point of apologizing to the opposing team's batsmen after it was over. Bless you, Rod Marsh.
I'm into sports because I love the drama -- but I love it more when it's borne of true sportsmanship and not chicken-s**t maneuvers like this one!

Have you seen the series Bodyline (1984)?
In this case, the Australian captain ordered his bowler to deliver the ball on the ground, making it impossible for the New Zealand batsman to hit the cricket equivalent of a home run -- scoring 6 runs -- to tie the match. The Australian rulebook was changed the next year to forbid that sort of delivery because of the controversy this game's end caused.
I thought the batsman pitching the fit was, as improper as it was (and, yes, a bit hilarious to watch), was also well-provoked -- and the footage there doesn't show you the hand gesture that was thrown along with the bat -- the "V" equivalent of the US middle finger, to the opposing team's bowler and captain (I think by the other NZ batsman, off frame). :3
