The "I Hate Winter" Random Journal Update

General
The season, of course, not anybody out there named Winter. Despite being born and raised in Canada, I have *zero* love of the coldest season; I am not into skiing or sledding or any of the various winter sports and passtimes. And ever since the heart attack it's gotten *worse*: blood-thinners do not help, and if there is one thing I *loathe* it is when my feet and hands are cold. My apartment is quite old and as is common with buildings in Texas, the insulation is minimal, at best, so I end up wearing lots of socks, sweaters, and fingerless wool gloves (my typing is bad enough bare-handed, it'd be utter gibberish if I tried typing in gloves).
There's been some progress on the posting front, although I'm so backed up that Patreon is now 2 years ahead of FA....going to try and correct that some, at least the art production is more consistent; the streams with me and KenCougr have become streams with Ken, Fleabite https://www.furaffinity.net/user/fleabitebeach/ and Michi https://www.furaffinity.net/user/michilumin/ , continuing with the live-DJ'ing of DJ-SQWRL on Saturdays as well as live streaming of the H-Bomb Lounge on SL with the camera work of Wynne, Creed, Ardy or Zibbie, depending on who's available/awake/not wrecked by work.
I am *trying* to run a bunch of commissions at some point in the very near future, but every time I think "Okay, now is the time." something comes up at work or in RL that makes it inconvenient and if I'm going to do them I'd like to do them quickly and efficiently instead of lingering.
Texas Furry Fiesta (TFF): as yet the convention is still scheduled, and it's still a couple months off, so we shall see what happens. Since I'm local, going to the con's not hard but it's mostly dependent on if anyone else shows up that I know; with the "curated" dealer's den I haven't had a table in *years*, though who knows, post-covid that may change.
The house-hunting continues, unfortunately prices here in the Dallas area continue to be way too high, so I'm looking for places further out (the town of Sherman looks nice), while also considering more extreme measures like other states (assuming I can find one where the whole housing bubble hasn't already pushed houses out of my price-range). The American Dream, still currently more like the American Fantasy.
Family stuff: I haven't seen my family since covid started, initially because my parents are fairly advanced in age, and post-vaccination because the restrictions for "foreigners" getting into Canada/Quebec are quite strict. Although my parents inform me that the restrictions are bizarrely haphazard in their enforcement, so if you're lucky you just enter with no issue, and if you're unlucky you get interrogated, tested, and possibly quarantined at your own expense for a couple weeks. Quebec has also instituted a nightly curfew restricting people from being out between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM for...reasons? Honestly, nobody's been able to explain that one to me, it's not like viruses are more active at night.
Health-wise: still a little too fat, still a little "mentally unsettled" (not exactly depressed, more covid-and-life-stressed, I guess), as far as I can tell either I had covid really, really early on in the plague and I was one of the folks that got it very mildly, or I have not had it at all - covid tests I have taken all came back negative and I maintain social distancing and masking (living like a hermit doesn't hurt either, I guess).
So that's all I can think of that's noteworthy at the moment, hopefully everyone *else* is doing better than I am, or at least "as well".

FA+

We got 2' of snow overnight. That was fun. Not enjoying the cold either. Trying not to have a heart attack in it.
If I'm not out of line in the wishing and asking you to send it their way, I'd ask that you wish my very best to your parents the next time you speak to them, if you'd do that by them on my behalf, ami Wolf, and I wish you and your person similarly so, if I may.

Having grown up in Toronto and never living anywhere else quite yet, I've only visited Montreal twice thus far via the VIA from Union Station to La Gare, both times for family business; my cousin's wedding and supper at my Uncle's home in Old Montreal, and for a family gathering after my mother's mother passed away in 1996. We also stopped and stayed in Kingston in the Quinte District for my grandmother's officiated memorial, where one branch of my mother's family has roots going back a few hundred years to British Loyalists and Quakers who came north to Upper Canada from the newly-minted United States after the War of Independence.
I even found out an Autumn or two ago that one branch of Jenora's family also has similar roots there, with many placenames like Adolphustown, other smaller towns in the Kingston area and local landmarks being familiar to us both. She and I have been neighbours here in Toronto and as friends for as long as I've been in Furry Fandom, and finding that some of our ancestors might likely have been neighbours as well was super-neat.
Thank you again for passing my best on to your Mum and Dad on my behalf the next time you're in touch with them, and for accepting mine sent to you as well; you, like Jenora, are a friend and fellow Furson of considerable vintage to this 2Paw, and I am thoroughly happy to share our acquaintance, Wolf!
