I don’t think I’ve seen hate on crypto, but plenty of hate on NFTs which is essentially glorified art theft

crypto comes with a few security issues that might not seem obvious at the low adoption rate it has in the fandom now.
A nosy person could snoop all of your transactions, since crypto ledgers are public
if someone just decides not to do art for you once paid, if they don't want to refund you, you really aren't going to have any options
and right now, the wide variety of crypto and how often their value changes could make the prospect of using it for payment seem iffy at best.
Like, imagine you as an artist get paid $100 in some crypto currency and it tanks 30% in the next day before you can even begin work on the comm. That's just a bad situation.

this is why ive never used crypto and don't want to.
ive been fucked by commission artists about 4 different times now and only got my money back thanks to paypal customer service.

Yes but in the long run they are worth more than usd or eur (I mean, the dollars I spent on crypto now are worth less than the cryptos). The refund policy it’s a service of PayPal but imho it’s totally replaceable

Well lets see...
1. Mining Crypto requires a ton of power and is INCREDIBLY bad for the planet, literally killing it.
2. Mining Crypto requires a ton of computing power, and has upended the marked on PC parts, most notably graphics cards, they are insanely hard to find and insanely expensive now.
3. It's all a huge scam. Crypto has no backing, we all agree that US dollars has value because of the gold stockpile the US has, whats backing crypto? Furthermore, it's been discovered that because crypto has no backing to it that money doesn't actually exist anywhere until someone ELSE puts money in.

Example: Let's say you create Flamezcoin, and you declare your 1 Flamezcoin is worth $5, so in theory you now have $5 you pulled out of thin air, except you don't really have $5 you have a non-physical object you SAY is $5, YOU don't actually have $5 until you sell it to someone else who agrees it is worth $5, but thinks they can increase it's value by buying it off you. YOU don't actually have money until -I- pay you for it. So everyone walking around with bitcoin or etherium, or doge, or whatever actually does NOT have any real money, they have a thing they SAY is worth money that will only actually give them money when someone ELSE buys it off them.

Think of it as a pyramid scheme, you are at the top pushing Flamezcoin for $5, you tell people THEY can make $10 if they buy it off you, and they should tell people they shoudl be buying it for $15 from them to make themselves money. No one is making money except the person who is creating the fake money at the top.


NFT's are ever worse because they are a PICTURE that anyone can right click and save, or screencap, etc.


Do not buy NFT, do not buy crypto. Do not support either of them.


Also if you think no ones taking a percentage per transaction you really don't understand it. Someone IS taking a percentage every time you use crypto.

Many of those problem are bound to some crypto, there are greener ones!
True, I can create Flamezcoin but why? If I don’t implement new services such as smart contracts, or any finance service? I could just use what already exists.
About the scam… you tell me there’s no value in a technology that let you trade tokens in a trust less network all around the world without a central government? It’s like saying that torrents are meaningless because without files to share the network is empty.
About NFT I’m really interested in the technology but I’m also skeptical about an actual use NOW. When different countries will agree using NFT technology for attribution of art and creative content, I will use it for sure

You need to really sit down and understand that crypto is a scam. There is a documentary on youtube right now, free to watch, that goes into a huge amount of detail about it. If you can't understand that it's a scam that is killing the planet and destroying entire markets to make a quick buck then you are just part of the problem.

Same for me. When Cryptos and NFTs became popular, i saw a good future in it which needs to improve over time, like with the use or accessing the data you buy from the random generated picture, yet there too many importend questions i do not see any answers to, aswell as the point of having your PC constandly run (so far i understand). I also saw a lot of bullshit around, such as people making fun out of dead people with NFTs, such as these Flyod NFTs or the Etika NFTs. I already saw screenshots of Websites where people could buy the rights of Youtube channels with NFTs, which i hope that this is fake. Over all im mostly below neutral because of all that dipshit i saw about NFTs

guys, i assure you it's not a scam, there are companies investing in it, there are projects developed on platforms like Ethereum (yes, platform because it's not only money, it's a foundation on which you can build a lot of things, from dapps to smart contracts, and of course use it as currency). But most of all they are all different, with different inner workings so if for example, you find that Bitcoin is "destroying the planet" because of its proof of work algorithm, there are cryptos designed to be more green, wasting little to no energy. And think what they would sobstitute: without central government means way less pollution (offices, cars, people, ...)

Like i already said, im disapointed at the time what it managed. When it git popular with the lazylions and the apes, i saw it as a positive thing which still needs to improve about a lot of things which are big problems with reasons, such as the pollution as example, yet there were no changes, except for new one made NFTs. There may be some which are more greener or almost green, i agree, yet it doesnt make anything better when there are like 4 or 5 very green and nature friendly NFTs, when there are also 80 extremly nature unfriendly NFTs which dont even try to make themself greener. Aswell as (so far i understood) are these NFTs saved data which are transfered into a jpeg. Atifrst, how do i access into that data? Secondly, why should i resell data that i brought without even knowing whats inside? Aswell as i dont really see a good reason to buy one when i dont really have a use for it. As example if i could pay an online super market with crypto, then it would had good use but so far i can pay artist for commissions, if artist even accept such payment or resell it which is isnt helpful, yet it hasnt any use for the big mass.

If i recall correctly, the NFTs hype started around 3 or 4 months so its still really new, yet there were no improvements on the very big problems it has, aswell as crypto. Mentioning the problems said is already everything we can do but they dont try to solve the problems, rather just ignore them.

Thats my problem with NFTs i have and i find it really sad that many see it at cash grab, but at the moment right now its only cash grab sadly, while companys joining NFTs are getting hated non stop for supporting it and getting called greedy aswell.

Yeah NFT now have prices over inflated, totally out of mind.
But I like the idea of proof of ownership on a shared blockchain, sounds very promising. Right now all that monkeys NFTs might just be a huge bubble (and money laundering)

About utility NOW aka usage for the the mass: that's MY problem, i mean i would like to use cryptos but it's not accepted by everyone so when i ask "can i get paid in crypto?" or "can i pay in crypto?" 95% of the time i get a NO... and 99% of shops don't accept any crypto so when you ask "why should i buy them NOW?" i can only reply "to try them" because they have no utility now except experimenting or taking them while they're cheap hoping that one day they'll be less cheap

I wont buy any, no matter if they would cost 0,50 dollar when there is no big use for it. Also, making them greenier is good. I wont deny that. And yes,thats what i see a bit sad of. No one tries to give NFTs and Crypto a chance but i can understand it a bit aswell, since many try to reduce the output and waste, then there are NFTs who makes it worse at a small point. I say its bad timing. Yet my opinion didnt changed. Im not supporting NFTs now, yet im interested to see how it gets over time. I would lie if i say that i hope thats it gonna be gone completly but i wouldnt say it will revolve the world aswell

Honestly with all the things people mentioned (damage to the environment, fluctuating value, etc.) my major issue with crypto is this:
It's the preferred method of payment on the Dark Web. You know, meaning people buy CP, hitmen, drugs, and human slaves with crypto like Bitcoin since it's so much harder to trace.
So in that sense, buying and trading crypto, ESPECIALLY with the ledgers being public, will get your hands dirty at one point or another.

This was a problem at the beginning… the technology works and it’s new and less traced so they used it for illegal activities. But that’s because IT WORKS! If we act like China, that banned cryptos; of course they will be used just for illegal activities. But they will not cease to exist, you cannot dis-invent them, they exist and they work, and when they will be accepted and regulated a LOT of possibilities will arise

Yeah, i have the same problems sometimes. The biggest reason why i dont trade crypto is that i just dont have the skills or money for it

i'm not talking about trading, that is hard and dangerous... i'm talking about USING cryptos, that is much simpler (some crypto require to install an app). Of course the best scenario is everyone having a private wallet (without any company or exchange like coinbase), that is a little harder but there are plenty of tutorials how to setup a wallet on a pc for the most common cryptos, and it's still an easy task, like installing and configuring an app, choosing a password, etc.
