Here's a little thought.
What if imaginative individuals, who create characters and write stories, are not simply making up these things purely from their minds, but instead are unwittingly peering into the lives of individuals in alternate universes and merely recording what they see as characters and stories for us to read and enjoy? For example maybe instead of me just coming up with Tamias the Chipmunk and his world, the Chipmunk Kingdom, maybe he and his world are very much real existing in an alternate universe and I'm unknowingly seeing into that universe. Same could be said for you and your characters and stories.
Just a thought exercise.
