As some of you know, I was born and live in Russia.
The news about the war frightens me. Our media say that a special operation is being carried out to free ukrainian people of nazi but only I feel like a hostage here. I am ashamed that my country is consumed by Putin's fascism. This has gone too far. I don't want to live here and associate myself with a person from Russia. I used to say that Russia is the most free country in the world, I was wrong. Here it is prohibited to speak out of politics, religion and history. Even erotic images like pictures of Renaissance age can be equated with pornography and condemned. Now people are being detained here who are organizing a peaceful protest with posters against the war. I bet that soon there will be a civil war. As an artist and a sensitive person, it is very uncomfortable for me to be here. We, the Russians, are guilty for what is happening becouse of our political inaction and passivity.

The protests were no longer considered Peaceful when they began seriously disturbing the peace, and impeding or blockading legal activities of other citizens.
All actions taken by the government and police passed the Oakes Test, in that they were of limited scope and rational application.
Please learn your Canadian Law before you start off again. I'm an uneducated Canadian long haul truck driver and yet I understand these things.

There have been multible tries from the Russian population to change the countries politics and power structure but it failed evey time with either suppression of any attention or violence.
Your government and media lied and is lieing to you.
All you can do is what you already said above.
If anyone chastises then they are bullies.
