So...

...here we are.
I'm russian and now I'm watching how my mad president is trying to destroy a country that is not only a neighbor for us, but for many Russians is the homeland.
Nobody asked if we approved it or not. Putin decided that he would conquer Ukraine in one day, and he would be greeted with flowers and gratitude. He lives in some alternate world. And he doesn't care about our world anymore.
Many people tell us to take to the streets. Unfortunately, Russia lived under the fear of punishment for twenty years, any opposition was systematically destroyed all these years. Remember Navalny. Now, at the same time, a court hearing on his case is being held. People are protesting, but there is no one to coordinate them. In five days, 6,000 people have already been arrested, and half of them are from my city. We were even forbidden to call it "war", can you imagine? But we are trying to do something.
Our economy is over. I don’t know how long PayPal will work, but something tells me that it won’t be long. In this situation, I do not know if it makes sense to take commissions for the next month. I have savings that I put aside in the hope of buying an apartment someday. Now it's just paper. But I hope I can live on it for a while.
Most likely, I will continue to do something, otherwise I will just go crazy. I watch the news for several hours in a row, apparently hoping that it will not get worse (and it gets worse anyway).
Please help the residents of Ukraine with donations and support of any kind, they really need it!!!
This war should not have happened. It needs to be stopped.
No war!
Thanks for reading, pals, I know it's hard for all of us to read every topic about it.

As you said: This war should not have ever happened.
I wish I could give you (and anyone who reads this) some motivational speech, but I, unfortunately, can't think of anything😔
Ukraine/Russian people: Please stay safe :(
Let's all hope and pray that this insanity will end very quickly

stay safe
A lot of my favorite artists are opening up for commissions now to be worked on in the next few months. I know people will understand.
Yes, most likely, I will take some commissions. What can I do haha :'c
Hugs
Yes, I am proud of how Ukrainians fight back. If only my people had this much power...
Hugs
I have seen so many Russians stand up against this unfair war. Hope that it all ends soon and that all Ukraine and Russians civilians will get peace.
Now we need also more people in Russia unite and be able to rise up against criminal actions.
I saw this unfold with surprise, myself. I knew Russia didn't have the resurces for a military invasion, and gueess what? russian footsoldiers paid the price too, being stranded in the Ukraine with no fiuel, no food, and of course being ordered to press on anyway. and all of this comes from the Russian pockets too. who are already not rich
All because of one man in the Kremlin.
And yeah Putin threatened my country too (Sweden) just because they made good anti-tank weapons. It's all unbelievable. that he did this, that everyone fell in line in the military... and it seems to just be destructive and nothing else.
If there's anything I can do to help you, let me know.
It seems to me that Putin quarreled with most of the countries even before these events. His main message was that Europe hates us and wants to capture us. As a result, russian people are more important to Europe than to our own government.
Thanks, I really appreciate it! ;A;
I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to be in a place you can't stand up for what's right, or to not feel safe in your home... I hope for the best for you and the civilians of Russia who feel strongly against this war and for the people of Ukraine. Everyone is hurting for something that is so needless, lead by a mad man.
Unfortunately yes. this is our reality. Sometimes people come to court because of repost, sometimes because of picture in social networks, almost everyone is being grabbed at rallies now. I really hope that soon we will be able to feel free.
Either from inside, outside or both, things aren't going to improve in Russia and surrounding countries until there is a change of leadership. And based on past actions, I don't think that's going to happen by a vote, and waiting for Putin to die of old age is proving not to be a healthy choice either.
Every time he picks a fight not only do the victims suffer, but the Russian people do to; it's not Putin who bears the brunt of economic sanctions, it's the people on the bottom who can't afford food, fuel and are left without utilities.
The big question is if NATO and the EU will step up, given that the risk is China jumping in as well. It's a precarious situation, where both sides have terrible consequences.
I hope this helps you.
I am personally trying to help some ukrainian friends.
But yeah. good luck.
༼ つ TnT ༽つ🍀💖
I locked comments just because due to the current situation i did not wish it to become a magnet for soapboxers.
good luck. And may this idiocy wanted by only a selected few end soon.
And I'm pretty sure the most citizens can do is hope for it to get better or protest, which seems not be an option in Russia
I send you my condolences friend
I hope that people will find the strength to take to the streets. This morning, Navalny called for rallies, maybe this will cheer up the people.
It's hard to see a way forward so long as Putin remains in power; but deposing such a tyrant is no easy fight. Just about everyone is going to have to stop letting Putin get away with what he's been doing; that includes the Russian people and the rest of the world too. Nato and the EU are far from blameless, letting Putin do as he wishes for this long. Appeasement doesn't work, and hoping he'd be deposed from thin hasn't panned out.
Sadly, I think many countries will do the exact same they did during the Crimean invasion, put up sanctions for a while, get fed up of the internal fallout, then let Putin go right back to playing dictator since no one wants a war.
Anyway, I hope you stay safe, given what's been happening to Putin's opposition lately.
MD: We can mostly just pray you and the many, many people who didn't want a thing to do with some seventy-year-old ex-KGB agent's egotistical 18th-century land grab stay safe, and can find the means to support yourselves and survive. You're collateral damage in this and our support is with you where we can.
It really pisses me off when I see trolls on both sides making light of the situation, or misrepresenting the whole thing. It's honestly more like there are three sides in this; the civilians who are caught in the middle, Ukrainians rightfully defending their sovereignty, then Putin and all his loyalists an internet trolls muddying the water with outright lies, bullshit and nonsense. It's disgusting watching accounts with Ukrainian flags going around trying to foster hate for civilians, or insist they were all complacent.
Despite the fact thousands of anti-war Russian protestors are now imprisoned by Putin's' regime. And while I haven't said much on the pro-Putin trolls, it's mostly because there's not a lot to say on morons supporting a dictator who's been killing and imprisoning his rivals and critics for over a decade; they're sorta outing themselves, and oppose to trying to blend in with victims and making the victims look bad (which just feels so much more heinous to me).
I'm with everyone who's onboard with getting rid of Putin and others like him, be they slav, caucasian, stuck in the war or its economic fallout, or just a casual observer. Seeing people try and gate-keep over 'who truely opposes' Putin reminded me of why I avoid twitter; you always manage to find humanity at its worst there.
(Sorry if I'm a bit ranty, I'm just really rilled up by some of the sewage masquerading as social media posts I've seen lately...)
Yes that's right. The older generation of people believe what the TV says. And on TV there is only propaganda and praise of Putin. Because of this, the young quarrel with the old. But old people are not always to blame: they are firmly convinced that nothing bad is happening. Now, many have thrown their strength into convincing their relatives and friends by providing evidence in the form of photos and videos. Maybe this will work.
As a result, everything in our country is striving for a civil war, and this is bad. There is no support, the ministers are afraid to say a word. It always amazed me how intimidated one must be by a single old man.
Thank you for your posts, I'm really pleased to see that people understand the situation.
It's easy to speak out when you're a whole world away, and know your family has safely gotten out of the country where Putin likely cannot get them. But I don't blame those who are afraid or keep quiet to protect their families. They should speak out, but it can take a lot to get the momentum up where a whole country turns on a brutal dictator like that.
It's even worse when the population is being gaslit by a relentless propaganda machine; with enough repetition and lack of differing viewpoints people can be convinced of almost anything.
It feels prudent to keep up on the situation given that the Russian part of my family fled from the last 'great dictator' before Putin, and had plenty to say about such kinds of leaders (Especially since they were of a group who would be considered 'undesirable' by Stalin). I don't hear much from my extended family these days outside of them further fleeing the east for the west due to ever more authoritarian regimes.
The man behind it is truly deranged and spiraling into dementia...
Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot to me! QAQ
The regular person always suffers.
Let's hope things calm down soon.
Best of luck.
The sooner Putin and his accomplices are removed from power and their type never permitted to return, the better.
It's absolutely unfair that this is going on. I'm very angry on the behalf of all the folks that are going to be hurt.
You're a good egg, to worry about Ukrainian folks. I'm genuinely sorry you're going to suffer, too, when paypal decides to fuck you.
I see you were given alternative tools in case your income is somehow affected. I can offer no more words other than I wish you well. Let's hope this political circus ends soon-- the world's gone mad
ww1 started with 1 man's death and killed tens of millions in bloody conflict. Are we really this eager to go down that path of history again? I just really don't see a sane path forward on this that doesn't play into one side losing greatly and quickly lest it lead to everyone losing in a massive war. I just hope peace talks, if those are even on the table, could resolve this quickly.
I'm not sure, but maybe bank transfers would still work as a form of payment if/once PP is cut off from Russia? It has fees attached, but less money is surely better than no money.
Either way, I sincerely wish you and your loved ones all the best, Madness_demon. I hope you can get through this okay.
My prayers for peace and harmony 🙏
It will be hard for all artists and people with foreign connections and friends in the coming weeks, I wish you to stay in touch with those that can help, and who could benefit from your help as well.
